Tyson Fury backs Mike Tyson to KO Jake Paul & breaks mold with fight opinion

Tyson Fury has expressed his belief that Mike Tyson will knock out Jake Paul and has defended the July 20 mega fight against criticism from the boxing community.

The WBC world champion recently appeared on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani as he prepared for his upcoming heavyweight championship unification fight against Oleksandr Usyk.

During the interview, Fury expressed his excitement for the upcoming fight, acknowledging Usyk’s impressive resume. However, he confidently assured that he would emerge as the victor on May 18.

As the segment came to a close, Helwani brought up the highly anticipated boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, which is scheduled for July 20 and will be broadcasted worldwide on Netflix.

Despite facing criticism, Fury stands by the Paul vs Tyson matchup and believes it is beneficial for the sport. He even goes as far as describing it as “fantastic”.

The success of this event is truly remarkable. It generates a significant amount of revenue for Texas, with the sale of all those tickets leading to increased sales of drinks, alcohol, food, and other local products.

“Both Mike’s and Jake’s team are being fed. As a result, many people are having their needs met and rents are being paid. I am not sure why there would be anything negative to say about this situation.”

“I am excited for this opportunity to witness the legendary Mike Tyson back in the ring during my lifetime. It is truly a fantastic experience to see him live and exclusively as an adult. I cannot wait for this treat.”

Fury went on to specifically defend the Paul brothers, emphasizing that they have both made a positive impact on the world of combat sports.

While I am aware of the rivalry between us and Tommy [Fury], I must be honest in saying that Jake and Logan have achieved great success for themselves.

“I am aware that they have a significant number of critics. However, I am not among them. I am a supporter and fan, and I believe in individuals succeeding and earning significant amounts of money through boxing.”

“This will benefit young individuals who do not receive compensation, as a larger audience will be exposed to the fight and become intrigued by it. Therefore, there will be more attention given to the game, ultimately improving it.”

Tyson Fury predicts Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

Helwani clarified that the Paul vs Tyson match is a professional boxing fight, not an exhibition, and requested the champion’s forecast.

“Let’s be real, if Mike Tyson throws a punch at anyone, regardless of their age, he’s going to knock them out. After all, he’s ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson, the toughest man on Earth.”

Jake Paul has gained a lot of experience through numerous challenging and successful fights. In fact, he is only a quarter of the age of most seasoned fighters.

“Of course, I have to support Mike Tyson since I was named after him, the legend. I have no doubt that he will win by knockout! Let’s go, Mike!”

John Fury, the father of Fury, chose to name his son after Tyson, who he greatly admired during the rise of ‘Iron Mike’ in the 1980s and 1990s.

The reigning lineal and WBC champion will have the opportunity to face Usyk on May 18 before being able to witness his namesake’s fight against Paul on July 20.
