The Pokémon TCG Pocket developer is making strides to enhance the mobile game’s trading system following notable community feedback. The feature, which was implemented on January 29, 2025, has stirred mixed reactions due to its various constraints.

Overview of the Trading Feature

This newly introduced trading mechanism requires players to comply with several rules: trades can only occur between friends, both cards involved must share the same rarity, and a new currency—Trade Tokens—must be utilized.

These limitations sparked a wave of discontent among users, prompting a variety of responses ranging from outright critiques to constructive suggestions aimed at making the trading experience more accessible.

Developer’s Response and Future Improvements

In a statement released on X/Twitter on January 31, the Pokémon TCG Pocket development team acknowledged receipt of significant player feedback. They appreciated the community’s input and provided deeper insight into the rationale behind the trading restrictions.

According to the developer, the constraints were put in place to mitigate potential abuse from bots and other forms of exploitation involving multiple accounts. They emphasized, “Our goal was to balance the game while maintaining a fair environment for all players.”

Despite these explanations, the developers recognized that certain restrictions have hindered players from fully enjoying the Trading feature as intended.

Furthermore, the team expressed their commitment to refine the trading experience by actively exploring methods for improvement based on user feedback. As for Trade Tokens, they announced that players will soon have access to additional ways to earn them, including through in-game events.

However, no specific timeline has been provided for these enhancements, leaving the player community anticipating when these changes will be implemented. For now, the Trading feature remains in its current state.
