In a striking development from the gaming peripherals sector, a mechanical keyboard manufacturer based in China has introduced an innovative product: a “foot keyboard” designed specifically for various gaming experiences.
As technology evolves, the realm of gaming accessories witnesses an influx of creative—and sometimes unconventional—ideas. If you think you’ve seen it all with quirky devices like the infamous jeans keyboard, prepare to be intrigued by this latest offering.
Varmilo, a recognized name in mechanical keyboards, has unveiled this foot-operated device, which is precisely what its name suggests. Designed to be positioned on the floor, it enables players to interact with their games using their feet, thus freeing up their hands for other tasks.
Introducing Varmilo’s Innovative “Foot Keyboard” Featuring Cherry MX Silent Black Switches
You might wonder how a foot keyboard actually operates. Essentially, it serves as an extension of your keyboard, allowing you to assign various game controls to it. For instance, in complex games that require multiple skill activations, players can map critical functions to foot pedals, easing the load on their hands.

A detailed view of Varmilo’s foot keyboard.
Currently available for preorder on Varmilo’s official website, the foot keyboard comes in three distinct configurations. The introductory model features three keys—one on the left, one in the center, and one on the right—making it the most affordable option priced at approximately $50 during a promotional period.
The additional versions boast more keys, including a four-key variant and a uniquely designed dual four-key model, which naturally come with a higher price tag.
On the technical side, this keyboard utilizes Cherry MX Silent Black switches coupled with durable ABS keycaps. For gamers concerned about accidental activations, the design includes a 1.5mm activation point, a total travel distance of 3.5mm, and switches that demand an initial pressure of 60g, culminating in an 85g force at bottom out. This ensures adequate resistance to prevent unintended presses while gaming.
Moreover, this innovative keyboard supports diverse connectivity options, including Bluetooth 5.0, a 2.4GHz wireless mode, and wired connectivity. It allows users to connect up to five devices and effortlessly toggle between them using a physical switch.
