MUG Root Beer is making a significant move into the fitness culture by launching a unique protein-infused beverage inspired by its famous soda. This initiative reflects the increasing intersection between beverage brands and health trends, positioning MUG as a modern choice for health-conscious consumers.

In a collaboration with NFL star George Kittle, MUG has introduced MUG Brotein—a DIY mix that combines MUG Zero Sugar soda with a creamy vanilla protein shake. This innovative drink caters to the growing desire for high-protein options among fitness enthusiasts, particularly as social media is flooded with “fit season” content.

Introducing the MUG Brotein Bundle: A Unique Fitness Offering

MUG Brotein is marketed as a “dirty protein” remix, effectively merging the classic flavors of soda with a traditional protein shake, offering consumers a sweeter alternative to conventional protein drinks. The product is designed to satisfy cravings while providing nutritional benefits, appealing to those seeking to enhance their fitness routine without sacrificing flavor.

The first release is scheduled for April 22 and will be available exclusively on Walmart’s website, followed by a subsequent launch on TikTok Shop via the official MUG account on April 28. Each bundle will include MUG Zero Sugar, a vanilla protein shake, and branded accessories like a shaker bottle, gym bag, and tank top, making it an attractive package for fitness fans.

George Kittle expressed his excitement about the product, stating, “As a professional athlete, tracking protein intake is essential, but as a longtime MUG Root Beer enthusiast, I didn’t want to give up my soda floats. MUG Brotein perfectly balances both worlds. Honestly, I should have done this sooner!”

Michael Smith, the VP of marketing for MUG, shared his enthusiasm as well, noting, “MUG has always resonated with fans who have a strong spirit. Collaborating with George Kittle for the launch of MUG Brotein allows us to tap into that vibrant energy during fit season, creating a fun and delicious way to add protein to your diet.”

For consumers who miss the limited release, MUG has assured that the ingredients—MUG Zero Sugar and vanilla protein shakes—will still be accessible through major retailers like Kroger and Albertsons, as well as online options via Walmart and Instacart.

This launch positions MUG Root Beer among several beverage companies that are tapping into the “dirty soda” phenomenon, with other brands like Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and Mike’s Hard Lemonade entering the market with their own unique variations expected in 2026.
