Rockstar Games has finally released the much-anticipated GTA V Enhanced for PC, introducing impressive ray-tracing capabilities to this iconic open-world game. Initially launched on consoles, the enhanced PC version significantly boosts the graphical experience with improved draw distances and shadows, providing players with a visually stunning environment.
While the ray-traced visuals deliver exceptional quality, players using ultrawide monitors may encounter some challenges. Notably, during cutscenes, black bars may appear on the sides—a situation referred to as pillarboxing. Fortunately, community member Rose from the widescreen community has updated their original patch to resolve these issues in the Enhanced edition.
Addressing Ultrawide Cutscene Issues in GTA V Enhanced
While gameplay on ultrawide displays runs smoothly, the appearance of pillarboxing during the numerous cutscenes disrupts the overall visual consistency of the campaign. To resolve this, players can utilize a combination of Flawless Widescreen and Rose’s updated patch, allowing for an uninterrupted cinematic experience.

Important: The patch is specifically designed for Story Mode, necessitating the temporary disabling of the Battleye Anti-cheat system to prevent conflicts or potential account bans.
Disabling Battleye via Rockstar Launcher
Players can easily disable Battleye through the Rockstar Launcher, which also disables access to GTA Online. Remember to re-enable Battleye after using the patch for Story Mode.
- Launch the Rockstar Launcher on your PC.
- Navigate to SETTINGS in the top-right corner.
- In the General tab, uncheck the “Battleye” option.

By following these steps, Battleye will be disabled for GTA V Enhanced, preventing access to GTA Online until you reactivate it.
Installing Flawless Widescreen
Next, you’ll need the Flawless Widescreen utility to implement Rose’s patch effectively.
- Visit the official Flawless Widescreen website to download the latest version.
- Run the Flawless Widescreen application to set it up.
Obtaining Rose’s GTA V Enhanced Patch
In addition to addressing the ultrawide cutscene issues, Rose’s patch includes a variety of enhancements, such as adjustments for field of view (FOV).
- Access the Nexus Mods page (you’ll need a free account to download).
- Download the patch zip file.
Installation Steps for the Patch
- Extract the downloaded file into the directory where Flawless Widescreen is installed, typically found here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Flawless Widescreen

- Launch Flawless Widescreen, then choose Rose’s Plugins from the left column.
- Select Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced.
- Choose the desired fixes under “Individual Fixes, ” such as FOV adjustments, or simply select “Pillarboxing Removal” to eliminate the black bars during cutscenes.

- Finally, launch GTA V Enhanced, ensuring that Flawless Widescreen runs in the background.
Following these steps will successfully remove the pillarboxing effect during cutscenes. You can toggle the patch on and off in real-time to experience the difference.
Special thanks to Rose for their ongoing development and testing of this valuable patch.
Disabling the Ultrawide Patch
When finished with Story Mode, you can easily disable the patch by launching Flawless Widescreen and unchecking the “Fix Enabled” option at the top. Don’t forget to reactivate Battleye for online gameplay.
GTA V Enhanced offers a remarkable and optional free upgrade for PC gamers. There is hope that Rockstar will continue to provide support, ensuring that players won’t have to wait long for future patches like this one.
