YouTube users now have the ability to completely eliminate Shorts from their feeds, catering to those who prefer long-form video content. This newly introduced option effectively hides the vertical video content from their browsing experience.
Despite the presence of Shorts on YouTube for nearly five years, not everyone enjoys this quick, fast-paced format. For those who favor traditional videos over short, snappy clips, YouTube has rolled out a solution that allows complete avoidance of Shorts.
Initially announced in October 2025, YouTube has introduced updated parental control settings aimed at reducing the time younger users spend engaging with Shorts. Previously, the lowest limit was a 15-minute filter on viewing time.
However, as highlighted by The Verge, YouTube has expanded these management options to include a zero-minute limit, which effectively removes Shorts from the mobile application experience.
How to Completely Remove YouTube Shorts from Your Feed
This zero-minute limit is now available for all parental accounts and is gradually being rolled out to all users, according to a statement from YouTube spokesperson Makenzie Spiller. This setting restricts daily exposure to Shorts, enabling users to select a limit that suits their viewing preferences.
Previously, users could set a cap of 15 minutes, after which they would receive a warning. Once the limit was reached, Shorts would be disabled for the rest of the day, effectively removing them from view on the app.

If long-form content is your preference, the option to hide Shorts is readily accessible. Activating the zero-minute limitation not only hides the Shorts tab but also ensures that Shorts do not appear in your recommended video feed, effectively erasing their presence from your app.
This announcement follows a recent update that allowed users to filter out Shorts while searching on the platform. Now, for those determined to avoid Shorts completely, especially on mobile devices, YouTube provides the necessary tools to tailor their viewing experience.
With these new features, YouTube is catering to viewer preferences, ensuring that users can enjoy the content they love without the distraction of unwanted formats.
