Ultimate Fates of Gojo’s Students: A Reflection of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Cyclical Themes

The online buzz surrounding Jujutsu Kaisen has significantly increased due to the reveal of Yuta Okkotsu possessing Satoru Gojo’s body. This has shed light on a fascinating concept of Gojo’s pupils resembling his past adversaries. While this revelation may not have been immediately apparent, it showcases the clever storytelling of author Gege Akutami.

Several Jujutsu Kaisen fans have observed the striking similarities between Yuji Itadori and Ryomen Sukuna, Yuta Okkotsu and Kenjaku, and Maki Zen’in and Toji Fushiguro. Interestingly, all of these characters have had some sort of conflict with Gojo in the past. While it could be merely coincidental, this detail is worth examining in relation to the overall story. After all, Gojo had other students, making the connections between these specific characters even more intriguing.

Exploring the Mirror Image Phenomenon in Jujutsu Kaisen: How Three of Satoru Gojo’s Students Have Become His Enemies’ Doppelgängers

A user of X highlighted the striking similarity between three of Satoru Gojo’s disciples – Yuji Itadori, Yuta Okkotsu, and Maki Zen’in – and his adversaries. This observation is reinforced by an image depicting Yuji’s transformation into Sukuna, Yuta’s resemblance to Kenjaku, and Maki’s likeness to Toji Fushiguro.

Yuji’s situation can be attributed to his acquisition of most of Sukuna’s techniques and their familial relationship, as revealed in the latest chapter. Meanwhile, Yuta has possessed Gojo’s body similarly to how Kenjaku has done for centuries.

In the meantime, Maki has grown to resemble Toji and has also taken up his sword. They share such a strong resemblance that Maki takes action against the Zen’in clan for their mistreatment of those without Cursed Energy. Although they are not true villains, these characters have become strikingly similar to the foes that Gojo faces.

Additionally, it should be noted that the emphasis of this plotline is on Maki, Yuta, and Yuji, as they are among the most significant students under Gojo’s tutelage. However, it neglects to include characters like Megumi Fushiguro and Kinji Hakari, who hold their own importance and have a strong connection to Gojo.

What to expect in the upcoming chapters?

It is highly likely that the upcoming chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen will feature Yuta, who is currently inhabiting Satoru Gojo’s body, engaging in a battle against Ryomen Sukuna. This will provide Yuta with a better understanding of the current situation of the remaining sorcerers. Aoi Todo previously mentioned that Yuji Itadori and Sukuna had removed all of them from the battlefield in order to address a crucial plot point.

Furthermore, in chapter 262, Sukuna’s overwhelming strength is showcased as he defeats Yuta. The chapter ends on a suspenseful note with Rika tearfully holding Yuta’s original body. As a result, it is highly likely that the upcoming chapter will address this development and may also feature Yuta utilizing Gojo’s body.

Despite its significance, Hakari’s battle with Uraume has become a recurring joke in the fandom. This is due to Akutami’s lack of updates on the matter, leading some fans to humorously speculate that the author has neglected it.

Final thoughts

Gege Akutami, the author of Jujutsu Kaisen, has included a fascinating detail by showing how Satoru Gojo’s students mirror his enemies. While this may not significantly impact the plot, it adds an enjoyable element for readers who are captivated by the diverse themes of the series.
