Ultimate Guide to Defeating Elementa in Metaphor: ReFantazio

In Metaphor: ReFantazio, players will encounter a variety of challenging bosses, but few are as exasperating as the Elementa enemies, known for their tendency to flee at the first sign of trouble.

These foes are reminiscent of the Mitamas from Shin Megami Tensei, but their lack of willingness to engage is even more pronounced. To emerge victorious against them, you need to be swift and assertive. Believe me, the rewards make the struggle worthwhile.

This guide will detail strategies for defeating each Elementa type, including Blue, Red, Green, and Golden variants, while highlighting their respective weaknesses.

Strategies for Overcoming Elementa Enemies

To defeat an Elementa enemy effectively in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you must take it down in one turn before it escapes.

  1. As soon as you spot an Elementa, act quickly—chase it down and use your primary weapon to hit it before initiating Squad combat. This grants you an advantageous first strike without consuming a turn.
  2. Next, target the Elementa’s elemental weakness, which corresponds to its color. Deploy your Archetype’s magic or specific items to exploit this weakness for a swift victory.
  3. Another strategy is to unleash a powerful physical attack in the hopes of inflicting a critical hit, allowing for an additional turn.

Upon defeating the Elementa, you’ll be immediately transported to the rewards screen, where you will receive a significant increase in MAG, Reeve, and EXP. It’s highly probable that multiple characters and Archetypes will level up from this single encounter. Additionally, since the Elementa won’t get the chance to counterattack, you’ll also achieve the Unscathed Victory bonus.

The Blue Elementa is susceptible to Fire skills, including Bot, Gabot, Botra, Gabotra, Boatona, and Meteophor. Typically, these skills can be acquired by the Mage, Wizard, and Magic Seeker.

You can find Blue Elementa foes near the fringes of Grand Trad or within the Catacombs.

The Red Elementa is vulnerable to Ice skills, such as Blizz, Gablizz, Blizza, Gablizza, and Blizzaton. These are usually available to Mages and Wizards. If you lack these abilities, items like Ice Chunk can work as substitutes, or you can rely on strong physical attacks.

Red Elementas can be spotted on the outskirts of Martira or beneath the castle.

Weaknesses of the Green Elementa

The Green Elementa is weak against Electric skills, including Kande, Gakande, Kandera, Gakandera, and Kandeon. These can be learned by the Mage and Wizard, while the Magic Knight can access the Magic Knight’s Hammer, which also delivers Electric damage.

Look for Green Elementas in Oceania or on the roads during Inclement weather.

Weaknesses of the Golden Elementa

The Golden Elementa has a weakness to Wind skills, such as Cyc, Gacyc, Cyclo, Gacyclo, Cyclone, and Gacyclone. Seeker and Magic Seeker classes typically have access to these skills.

You can find the Golden Elementa around the outskirts of Virga Island or while traveling on the roads during Inclement weather.

If you haven’t yet obtained some of these spells, consider enhancing your Bond with your Followers to unlock all Archetypes that possess these abilities. And if battling the Elementa has left your MP depleted, check out the various methods available to restore your MP.
