Megas Sableye is the enhanced form of the Generation III Pokémon, and here’s what you need to know about its weaknesses and the top counters to use for defeating it.
Currently, Pokémon Go offers various Mega Evolutions, including Mega Sableye, which made its debut during the Dark Flames event on June 29, 2023. It is set to return to Raids in October 2024.
While Mega Sableye isn’t as formidable as Mega Banette in Pokémon Go, it can be a useful option when you’re in need of a Dark or Ghost-type attacker for challenging Raid Bosses. Additionally, capturing one will aid you in completing your Pokédex.
To assist you in overcoming Mega Sableye and to Mega-Evolve one of your own, we have compiled a straightforward Raid guide detailing its vulnerabilities and some of the best counters to include in your team.
Weaknesses of Mega Sableye in Pokémon Go
Mega Sableye is classified as a Dark/Ghost-type Pokémon, which means its sole weakness lies in Fairy-type attacks.
This makes selecting your team relatively straightforward since you only need to concentrate on a single type, but it can be a challenge if you lack strong Fairy-type Pokémon.
Conversely, Mega Sableye exhibits resistance against Fighting, Normal, Poison, and Psychic-type attacks; thus, it’s advisable to avoid using these types, as they will not deal significant damage.
Counters for Mega Sableye in Pokémon Go
Here are some of the top Pokémon and their optimal movesets to help you defeat Mega Sableye:
Pokémon | Best Moveset |
---|---|
Mega Gardevoir | Charm & Dazzling Gleam |
Xurkitree | Thunder Shock & Dazzling Gleam |
Zacian | Snarl & Play Rough |
Togekiss | Charm & Dazzling Gleam |
Gardevoir | Charm & Dazzling Gleam |
Sylveon | Charm & Dazzling Gleam |
Primarina | Charm & Moonblast |
Granbull | Charm & Play Rough |
Galarian Rapidash | Fairy Wind & Play Rough |
Florges | Fairy Wind & Moonblast |
As expected, Fairy-type Pokémon dominate this list.
Mega Gardevoir is perhaps the best choice due to its strength and capability to utilize two effective Fairy-type moves. So, if you have access to this powerful Pokémon, it would be an ideal choice against Mega Sableye. Additionally, it will boost the attack power of your Fairy-type teammates, making it even more formidable in battle.
If you don’t have Mega Gardevoir, simply select your most powerful Fairy-type Pokémon equipped with Fairy-type attacks. In the absence of Fairy-types, your best bet is to utilize your strongest Pokémon while avoiding Mega Sableye’s resistant types.
How to Obtain Mega Sableye in Pokémon Go
Like all Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Go, capturing Mega Sableye in its Mega-Evolved state isn’t possible.
Instead, you’ll need to defeat several Mega Sableye in Mega Raid Battles to accumulate Mega Energy as a reward, which you can then use to temporarily Mega-Evolve your preferred Sableye.
The good news is, once you’ve Mega-Evolved your Sableye, you’ll not need to use Mega Energy again for subsequent evolutions. You’ll only have to wait for the cooldown period to lapse before the process can be initiated again.
Mega Sableye will feature prominently in Mega Raids from October 14, 2024, until October 28, 2024.
