After an extensive journey through the realms of Avowed, you find yourself at The Garden, a key location in the “Heart of the Living Lands”quest. This vibrant area presents a myriad of locations to discover, along with captivating materials and items that beckon for exploration.
Among your first challenges in The Garden is a glowing gold sarcophagus, which conceals one of the game’s premier items. However, unlocking its secrets requires the elusive Sarcophagus Key.
1. How to Acquire the Sarcophagus Key in Avowed
To secure the Sarcophagus Key, players must locate a glowing purple skeleton perched on a ledge that overlooks the Broken Aqueduct in The Garden. This skeleton lies on your route towards the Strangled Adra.
After discovering the sarcophagus, consult your map for main quest markers. Proceed until you enter a chamber featuring a circular pond and walls adorned with spider webs.
In this chamber, you will notice a small door adjacent to the pond. Pass through this doorway and plunge into the water below. Swim along the underwater tunnel that awaits you.
When you encounter a fork in the path, take the left route until you spot a small ledge. This overlooks the Eye of Rymgrand and another ledge obstructed by thick branches. Utilize Margan’s Fury or Kai’s Firestarter to clear the branches hindering access to the other ledge.
Next, summon an Ice Spell or harness the Eye of Rymgrand to form an ice platform atop the water’s surface.
Ascend to the opposite ledge and continue along the path until you reach a vantage point overlooking the Broken Aqueduct. Here, you’ll encounter the Strangled Adra and the glowing purple skeleton holding the coveted Sarcophagus Key.
2. Utilizing the Sarcophagus Key
The Sarcophagus Key allows players to unlock the coffin, revealing the Spiritmender light armor within.
Take the key you have obtained and leap down the ledge. Navigate through the door directly in front of you, which you previously visited during the main quest. Descend the grand staircase into a flooded chamber, where you will find the sarcophagus in a smaller room. Use the Sarcophagus Key to unseal it.
Upon opening the sarcophagus, you will acquire the unique Light Armor known as the Spiritmender. Donning this armor grants you several advantages:
- Essence Draining: Restores 2% of your Attack Damage as Essence
- Luminous Adra Battery: Increases Maximum Essence by +100
