While trading may seem straightforward, the intricacies of trading in Path of Exile 2 can be quite complex. Unless you choose to play solo self-found, engaging in trades can significantly enhance your gaming experience. However, mastering the trading mechanics can be challenging. This Path of Exile 2 trading guide aims to clarify the process and empower you to trade effectively.

Initiating Trades in Path of Exile 2

To begin trading with another player in Path of Exile 2, ensure both of you are in the same area instance. The simplest way to achieve this is by forming a party together. You can invite another player by right-clicking their character in-game or clicking their name in the chat, and selecting the Invite to Party button. Alternatively, you can use the command /invite [CharacterName].

Once in the same instance, you can click the blue button above their character icon on your screen to join them. If you prefer to visit their hideout directly, select the Join Hideout button from the dropdown. Alternatively, use the chat command /hideout [CharacterName] to access their hideout.

To send a trade request, access the same dropdown menu and click the Trade button. After they accept your request, you can drag items into the trade window or alternatively use Ctrl + Left Mouse Button for quick transfers. You can also split item stacks during trading by using the Shift + LMB combination.

Purchasing Items via PoE 2 Trade

To trade for gear, currencies, and miscellaneous items, utilize the PoE 2 trading website. The site features two tabs: the Search Listed Items tab for individual item searches, and the Bulk Item Exchange tab for trading currencies and stackable items.

To buy an item from PoE 2 Trade, click the Direct Whisper button adjacent to the item to send a message to the seller. If they are responsive, they will likely invite you to their party and send a trade request. Once in the trade window, place your currency in the designated spot, hover over the seller’s items, and click accept to finalize the transaction.

Traders should always be vigilant against dishonest individuals in MMOs, including PoE. Ensure the seller has placed the correct items in the trade window before accepting an offer to avoid scams. In my experience, such situations often stem from genuine mistakes rather than malicious intent.

Searching for Items and Utilizing Filters

Start by selecting the appropriate league from the dropdown menu next to the Search Items field. Next, enter the item’s name into the search box and either click the search button or press the Enter key.

For items that are modifiable, you can use filters. To access them, click the Show Filters button on the right side of the search bar, which reveals an extensive menu divided into two columns detailing various filter options:

On the right side of the search bar, you’ll find Stat Filters. By clicking Add Stat Filter, you can specify certain stats to search for. Note that affix searches are sensitive to word order; using the “~” prefix allows you to find affixes containing keywords in any order. You can combine multiple stat searches, create new groups, and build advanced queries. The key useful stat types include:

• And — Items must possess all specified affixes.
• Not — Items should exclude specified affixes.

Upon searching, affix tiers are displayed on the left side. You can click on any affix or stat of an item to sort results by that stat, toggling between descending and ascending order. By default, items are sorted by price, from lowest to highest.

Path of Exile 2 Trade Search Example

This showcases filtering options in action: I searched for a Two-Handed Mace with high physical DPS for my level 32 Warrior. I required a non-corrupted item to allow rune additions, limiting my budget to five Exalted Orbs.

I received 49 results. By clicking on the Physical DPS sort option, I arranged them according to DPS. Although the top items had high values, they contained pre-installed runes. I scrolled down to find two maces with slightly lower DPS but no runes, ultimately purchasing one that I tailored for my build.

Additionally, you can enable live search in the top left of the search results. With this feature active, new listings matching your criteria will appear immediately at the top of the page, making it easier to spot coveted unique items.

Using the Bulk Item Exchange

The Bulk Item Exchange tab simplifies trading for currencies and stackable items. By clicking the Show Filters button, you can select items you wish to buy on the left and exchange items on the right.

Results will automatically sort by your best exchange ratio, which is indicated on the left side of each trade offer. To place an order, click the Contact button next to the trade to specify how many items you wish to buy, should the seller have sufficient stock.

Selling Items on PoE 2 Trade

In Path of Exile, players could sell items without needing to buy premium stash tabs through third-party applications like Acquisition. However, Path of Exile 2 requires you to purchase a premium stash tab for item listings on PoE 2 Trade. Try to purchase during sales or as part of a bundle for the best value.

While Path of Exile allows item listings via forum shops, this feature is not currently available in PoE 2 due to the lack of a proper system for linking in-game items in forum posts.

Purchasing Premium Stash Tabs

You can view all available premium tabs in the Microtransactions menu in-game by pressing the M key. While there are several options, upgrading a regular stash tab to premium is the most cost-effective approach. You can also sell items and currencies for fractions of other currencies. For example, if you want to sell 20 Exalted Orbs for a Divine Orb, enter 1/20 in the price field.

Trading Stackable Items in PoE 2 Trade

To list stackable items, you can use either a premium tab or specific special tabs for currency. The listing process mirrors that of standard items. After making the special tab public, select the pricing type, choose the desired currency, and specify the amount you want in exchange.

Moreover, you can place “buy orders” for non-currency items utilizing any premium tab. Start by identifying the item abbreviation you wish to purchase on the PoE 2 Trade About page. Then, right-click the item you intend to sell, select Note, and format your note like this:

~price [TheirAmount]/[YourAmount] [item_abbreviation]

For example, if you are buying Exotic Coinage for five Chaos Orbs each, input: ” ~price 1/5 exotic-coinage” .

Identifying Items to Sell

In short, sell items you suspect may depreciate over time or items you no longer need. It’s acceptable to hold onto potentially valuable items, such as Tailoring Orbs, but remember that most items generally lose value as more players reach the endgame.

Pricing Items in PoE 2

Currently, there is no straightforward way to price items in PoE 2. The Awakened PoE Trade developers have stated they cannot support both games simultaneously. In contrast, players can assess item prices through various methods:

• Comparing your items on the PoE 2 Trade website for a realistic appraised value.
• Seeking assistance on the PoE 2 Trading forum.
• Requesting price checks via Discord servers, including the official Path of Exile Discord.

Accessing and Utilizing Currency Exchange in PoE 2

To access the Currency Exchange, progress to the Cruel version of Act 1, and speak with Finn in Clearfell Encampment. He will provide the Currency Exchange option, facilitating the purchase and sale of items, although listings incur a gold fee depending on the items involved.

The interface mimics the trading website, displaying the current exchange rate between two items at the top of the window. Once you place an order, it will show below. To collect your items, simply drag them into your inventory, using Ctrl + LMB or Shift + LMB for speedy withdrawal.

On these platforms, you can often trade massive quantities of items in a single transaction, referred to as selling “whole stash tabs”in the game. To sell an individual item, follow these steps:

1. Join the relevant Discord server or visit their website.
2. Navigate to the PoE 2 section, as many platforms support both games.
3. Locate the appropriate channel to submit your trade request.
4. Observe other players’ offers to format your request correctly.

Buying and Selling Services in PoE 2

Popular services such as Boss Carries and 5-way Legion maps in Path of Exile are anticipated to gain a similar reputation in PoE 2. To buy or sell such services, access the mentioned third-party platforms and follow these guidelines:
