A recent glitch in Deadlock allows heroes to grow so enormous that they surpass the boundaries of the game map, leading to an “instant death.”
The ongoing development of Valve’s new MOBA hero-shooter, Deadlock, showcases its transition from Alpha toward a full release, with the game continually evolving.
As it stands, the game remains in early access, introducing new heroes through updates, along with constant adjustments to gameplay by the development team.
This early access phase naturally introduces a fair share of bugs and glitches, one of which was showcased by YouTuber Rasterise, who pointed out that players can magnify their heroes to a size that leads them to exceed the map’s limits and subsequently “die.”
In a video posted on October 29, 2024, Rasterise detailed the mechanics behind this glitch, explaining that it can be triggered by utilizing a specific ability of the new hero, Magician, in conjunction with the Colossus item, which allows for infinite scaling of a hero.
“During gameplay, we stumbled upon a bug that permitted us to use Magician’s third ability in combination with Colossus to infinitely scale up a character, until they eventually become larger than the map and die immediately,”the YouTuber explained.
This glitch involves two repeatable steps that lead to a comical outcome. The player aspiring to increase their size—shown in the video with the character Lady Geist—must first utilize the Colossus item. This Tier 4 vitality item grants health boosts alongside weapon and melee damage enhancements.
As the effects of Colossus begin to fade, a second player activates Magician’s ability, transforming Lady Geist into a frog. The video illustrates how every execution of this combination results in Lady Geist growing increasingly larger, eventually becoming so oversized that she can no longer exist within the confines of the map.
It’s crucial to mention that this glitch can only be replicated in Hero Lab mode, where new heroes like Magician are exclusively available.
Deadlock fans have responded to this glitch with amusement; one viewer commented on the YouTube video, “This is absolutely brilliant!”while another added, “The fact that movement isn’t scaled up is hilarious. She has to perform two full walking cycles to cover just two giant steps.”
