The Origin Formes of both Dialga and Palkia have been introduced in Pokémon Go alongside a new feature known as Adventure Effects. Here’s what you need to know about these features and how they function in Niantic’s mobile game.
The Origin Formes of Dialga and Palkia, which were initially introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, made their debut in Pokémon Go in February 2024. This release came with a new mechanic that enables players to gain special bonuses in an innovative way.
Following this introduction, Niantic announced the Adventure Effects related to Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam for Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma.
Here’s everything we know about Adventure Effects and how to utilize them in the game.
What are Adventure Effects in Pokémon Go?
Niantic characterizes Adventure Effects as “temporary bonuses” aimed at assisting Pokémon Go trainers. These effects involve Pokémon executing powerful attacks outside of battle to provide beneficial outcomes.
Currently, Adventure Effects are exclusive to Origin Forme Dialga, Origin Forme Palkia, Dusk Mane Necrozma, and Dawn Wings Necrozma. However, developers have hinted at future additions, stating, “Who knows what Adventure Effects may be discovered in the future…”
How to use Adventure Effects in Pokémon Go
Players with Pokémon that can trigger an Adventure Effect can activate it by navigating to the creature’s main page and scrolling down to the “Adventure Effects” section.
Activating Adventure Effects requires Stardust and Candy, with costs increasing based on the desired duration of the effect. Players can extend the effect’s duration after activation, with a maximum time limit of 24 hours.
It’s important to note that only one Adventure Effect can be activated at any given time.
Every Adventure Effect in Pokémon Go
As of now, there are only four Adventure Effects available in Pokémon Go, exclusive to Origin Forme Dialga, Origin Forme Palkia, Dusk Mane Necrozma, and Dawn Wings Necrozma, each based on their signature moves.
It’s noteworthy that while Smeargle caught via Go Snapshot normally can learn any attack, it will not acquire these specific moves.
Roar of Time
Origin Forme Dialga’s signature move, Roar of Time, significantly influences timers in Pokémon Go. Specifically, it pauses the timer on Incense, Daily Adventure Incense, Lucky Eggs, and Star Pieces while active.
Roar of Time lasts for a default duration of six minutes and costs 5,000 Stardust and five Dialga Candies. Players can spend additional Stardust and Dialga Candy to extend this time in six-minute increments for up to two hours. Thereafter, tapping “Use again” allows you to add more time (also up to two hours), with a maximum of 24 hours total.
This move is especially useful for capturing the Galarian Legendary Bird trio, as these Pokémon can only be lured using Daily Adventure Incense. Extending the active time increases the chance of encountering and capturing one.
Spacial Rend
Origin Forme Palkia has access to Spacial Rend, which distorts space and increases the distance at which you can encounter wild Pokémon when active.
Spacial Rend lasts for a base duration of 10 minutes and requires 5,000 Stardust and five Palkia Candies to activate. Similar to Roar of Time, trainers can extend the effect in 10-minute increments for up to two hours using additional Stardust and Palkia Candy.
Sunsteel Strike
By fusing Solgaleo into Dusk Mane Necrozma, this Pokémon learns the Charged Attack Sunsteel Strike. When activated, Sunsteel Strike increases the spawn rate of daytime Pokémon in your vicinity.
Moreover, Pokémon that can typically evolve only during the day can evolve at any time while Sunsteel Strike is active.
Sunsteel Strike lasts for 10 minutes and requires 3,000 Stardust and three Necrozma Candies to activate. Like other Adventure Effects, its duration can be extended in 10-minute increments by spending more Stardust and Necrozma Candy.
It’s important to note that Sunsteel Strike cannot be active simultaneously with another Adventure Effect, Incense, Daily Adventure Incense, Mystery Box, or Coin Bag.
Moongeist Beam
By fusing Lunala into Dawn Wings Necrozma, this Pokémon learns the Charged Attack Moongeist Beam. When Moongeist Beam is active, it attracts nighttime Pokémon to your location.
Additionally, Pokémon that can evolve only at night can evolve at any time while Moongeist Beam is active.
Moongeist Beam lasts for 10 minutes and costs 3,000 Stardust and three Necrozma Candies to activate. Similar to other Adventure Effects, you can extend its duration in 10-minute increments by using more Stardust and Necrozma Candy.
Like Sunsteel Strike, Moongeist Beam cannot be activated simultaneously with another Adventure Effect, Incense, Daily Adventure Incense, Mystery Box, or Coin Bag.
