Clash has been officially introduced as a permanent game mode in the Overwatch 2 Season 12 trailer. This innovative mode blends elements of 2CP (capture points) and Control, creating an engaging gameplay experience for players.
Initially launched as a Limited Time Mode (LTM) in Season 10 to gauge player reception, Clash received a positive response. With its permanent addition to the game, it’s essential for players to understand how this mode functions before jumping into matches.
Understanding Overwatch 2 Clash Mode
Clash is designed for quick-paced gameplay in Overwatch 2, where players aim to seize control points from their opponents to secure victory.
This mode delivers a significantly faster experience compared to others currently available, primarily due to the rapid spawn changes and more direct map routes, providing a refreshing break from Hybrid modes.
Clash offers a high-speed point capture gameplay.
How to Play Clash
Clash is a Player vs. Player (PvP) mode featuring five capture points (A-E) arranged in a linear fashion on a mirrored map. At any given time, only one of these points can be captured, with the match commencing at the central point (C).
Both teams will compete for the initial capture point, gradually pushing deeper into enemy territory with each successful capture. Players can gain control of a point by remaining on it without contest. The match concludes when a team captures all the way to either side (A or E), or by claiming the most points within the set time.
Clash Maps
The inaugural Clash maps are Hanaoka and Throne of Anubis, both drawing inspiration from classic Overwatch 2CP maps, Hanamura and Temple of Anubis respectively.
Additionally, Volskaya was mentioned at BlizzCon as a potential Clash map, hinting at the possibility of new maps being added in future seasons. This article will be updated accordingly if new locations are announced.
This Season 12 brings an abundance of content, including a new Battle Pass and the potential for a crossover event with World of Warcraft. As always, expect some Heroes to receive buffs and nerfs, so familiarize yourself with effective counters to Tank Heroes before engaging in competitive matches.
