Understanding Competitive Play in Marvel Rivals: Rankings, Placement, and More

As a competitive multiplayer shooter, it is only fitting for Marvel Rivals to offer a Competitive mode for players to progress in. Fortunately, this mode has been introduced in the Closed Beta.

The second wave of early access for Marvel Rivals has arrived, bringing with it not only a growth in its player base but also the addition of new characters and the highly anticipated ranked ladder for players to climb during the Closed Beta period.

All Competitive Ranks in Marvel Rivals

There are a total of eight rank groups in Marvel Rivals. These groups are listed below in ascending order:

  • Bronze (1-3)
  • Silver (1-3)
  • Gold (1-3)
  • Platinum (1-3)
  • Diamond (1-3)
  • Grandmaster (1-3)
  • Eternity (Rank Points)
  • One Above All (Rank Points)

From the lowest rank of Bronze to the highest rank of Grandmaster, each group will consist of three divisions. In order to progress to the next rank group, you must successfully complete all three divisions. A total of 100 Rank Points is required to advance through each division.

There are eight ranks for players to grind through

There is a safeguard against demotion known as “Chrono Shield”in this situation. Losing enough games to reach zero points will not result in an automatic demotion. Instead, you will be given one more opportunity to win a game and maintain your rank. However, if you are unsuccessful, you will be demoted.

After reaching the Grandmaster level, players are solely ranked based on their Rank Points. This requires them to continue playing in order to maintain their position at the highest rank. Failure to do so may result in penalties for being inactive.

Top Placements in Marvel Rivals

Don’t be surprised if you’re placed in the Bronze 1 group when unlocking the Competitive mode; it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not skilled.

As the game is currently in its Closed Beta phase, there is no proper placement system available to determine your skill level. Therefore, you will need to progress through the ladder by starting at the bottom and climbing up the ranks.

While the current system may not be permanent, rest assured that a proper rank placement system will be implemented in the future. We will keep you informed of any updates from the developers.

Unlocking Competitive Mode in Marvel Rivals: A Guide

To unlock Competitive in Marvel Rivals, you must reach level 5.

Fortunately, it should not be too difficult to achieve this as a few Quick Matches will suffice to reach level 5. Alternatively, if you participated in the Closed Alpha, it is highly likely that you have already reached the required level.

Competitive Party Restrictions in Marvel Rivals

There are certain limitations in place when it comes to grouping for Competitive.

Players of adjacent ranks have the ability to team up and form groups. This allows for Platinum players to group up with those who are Diamond or Gold, but it is not possible to have a group that includes all three ranks.

In terms of grouping, Bronze and Silver are considered the same rank. Therefore, as a Gold player, you have the option to team up with both Bronze and Silver players.

Marvel Rivals Competitive Rank Rewards

Players who achieve a Gold ranking during the Closed Beta will receive rewards at the end of the season. These rewards are based on placement in the ranked ladder.

Despite this, the exact rewards for end-of-season rankings have yet to be revealed. As soon as we have more information, we will provide an update here.
