Understanding Crossplay for Monster Hunter Wilds: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC Compatibility

Curious about the crossplay and cross-progression capabilities of Monster Hunter Wilds across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S? Worry not, as Capcom has provided information on these heavily requested features.

The inclusion of crossplay in Monster Hunter Wilds was highly demanded by players. It was also a feature that we, as well as many others, had hoped for along with the addition of Lagiacrus and new weapon types. However, both Monster Hunter Worlds and Rise have previously disappointed fans by not offering crossplay.

Despite being the latest title in the series, Monster Hunter Wilds has not stopped Capcom from going all out in its creation.

Is Monster Hunter World crossplay?

During the Summer Games Fest, Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds will support crossplay across all available platforms. Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto took the stage to reveal this exciting news.

A tweet from the verified Monster Hunter account also stated: “Crossplay has been CONFIRMED! As revealed at Summer Game Fest, crossplay is set to arrive in Monster Hunter Wilds! Regardless of location, hunters will unite to become a stronger force.”

For the first time since its release, players of Monster Hunter Wilds can now join forces for hunts on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. In addition to this thrilling news, the official Monster Hunter Wilds website has also confirmed that Hunters can now make friends with players on different platforms.

Naturally, individuals who would rather play with other players on their specific platform have the option to disable this feature in the in-game settings. We will share further instructions on how to do this as more information becomes available.

Is Cross-Progression Supported in Monster Hunter World?

Despite the fact that crossplay is available for all systems in Monster Hunter Wilds, cross-progression is not supported.

The Monster Hunter Wilds website states that save data, including game progress and paid DLC, will be stored and managed separately for each platform. This means that save data cannot be shared between different platforms.

Although Capcom did mention that the game is still in the development stage and details are “subject to change,”it may be disappointing for those who were anticipating the ability to transfer their saves between console and PC.

The absence of cross-progression in Monster Hunter Wilds may pose an issue for players who wish to change consoles but still want to obtain the bonus Palico gear.
