Health Expert Issues Caution on Fluffy Popcorn Trend

While the fluffy popcorn trend may seem harmless at first glance (aside from the sugar content), health experts are now advising caution due to one ingredient that could be termed “dangerous.”

Microbiologist @bloodflower elaborated on these concerns in a TikTok video, urging consumers to be aware of potential health risks.

“If you care for your kidneys, liver, and colon, and want to avoid conditions like colon cancer and autoimmune diseases, I recommend you listen to this message,” she stated.

“Many are unaware that consuming raw dough, batter, or cake mix increases the risk of bacterial infections from raw flour more than from raw eggs,” she revealed.

She continued by addressing the misconception that raw flour is safe to consume. According to the FDA, flour is indeed considered a raw food that hasn’t undergone any pathogen reduction processes, which allows harmful bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella to thrive.

“Just because you or those around you have never suffered from foodborne illness doesn’t mean the risk isn’t present,” she cautioned.

This isn’t the first food trend on TikTok to face scrutiny from health professionals, as similar warnings have been issued regarding the Balkan breakfast trend.
