The Siphon Trials are finally making a return in Fortnite! You might be wondering how you can participate and how these trials actually function.
As part of Fortnite’s 7th birthday celebration, Epic Games is launching Ranked Reload alongside a complimentary Felina Ranked skin.
Initially announced during the FNCS Global Championship 2024, the Siphon mechanic is back through the Siphon Trials. Below, we’ll guide you on how to access them and explain their mechanics in detail.
What are the Siphon Trials in Fortnite?

After being absent from the competitive scene for over a year, the Siphon Trials consist of various challenges that utilize different iterations of the Siphon mechanic in Ranked-only game modes.
The Siphon mechanic allows players to recover health and shield upon eliminating an opponent. This enables players to focus less on health recovery items and more on racking up eliminations to sustain their own health.
Spanning over six weeks, the Siphon Trials will evolve weekly, changing the amount of health and shield gained from eliminations:
- Week 1 (Sept 24): 40 Effective Health
- Week 2 (Oct 1): 50 Effective Health
- Week 3 (Oct 8): 25 Effective Health
- Week 4 (Oct 15): 75 Health Over Time (No Shield)
- Week 5 (Oct 22): 50 Health (No Shield)
- Week 6 (Oct 29): 25 Health, 25 Shield
Epic Games has indicated that the schedule may be adjusted based on player feedback.
Siphon Trials Game Modes
Exclusive to Fortnite’s most competitive modes.
You can only join the Siphon Trials in three game modes: Ranked Battle Royale, Ranked Zero Build, and Tournaments.
Starting on September 24 and lasting until around November 5, whenever you queue for any of these game modes, you’ll be participating in the Siphon Trials. Do keep in mind that the new Ranked Reload mode will not feature the Siphon mechanic.
Regarding Tournaments, all designated Battle Royale and Zero Build tournaments during this Siphon Trial period will implement the active version of Siphon, excluding any Reload Tournaments.
