Throughout the map in Frostpunk 2, you’ll discover areas for developing Logistics Districts. These districts cost the same as most resource-gathering districts and require a moderate amount of Workforce.

After construction, they enable exploration into the Frostland, allowing you to investigate points of interest, establish new colonies for resource extraction, relocate population segments, and help resettle the world with your city at the core. Access the Frostland map by clicking on the mountain icon in the screen’s upper right corner.

Like other elements of the game, the Frostland is filled with various resources that require management.

Initially, you’ll need Frostland Teams to manage your expeditions. You can acquire more teams through your Logistics Districts, as well as by increasing the number of Frostlanders, Evolvers, and Pilgrims within your population. Promoting these groups can enhance their output, but it could also influence their voting power in council decisions.

Logistics Bays are crucial for any Logistics District, adding 20 Frostland Teams, with a maximum of three possible at a time. Research this option from the Frostland Ideas tree via the upper branches.

With a sufficient number of Frostland Teams, you can optimize your explorations through Expeditions.

These journeys into the Frostland present both risks and rewards. The level of danger associated with each Expedition varies, dependent on your exploration progress, the training of your Frostland Teams, and other factors. A higher danger rating increases the likelihood of injuries or fatalities, while a lower rating ensures safety for your teams.

By embarking on these expeditions, you can discover points of interest containing resources to harvest, areas suitable for settlement, and stashes of Cores for Generator upgrades. Various scenarios might arise where your current city configuration and previous decisions affect the resources you can obtain, the allies or enemies you might encounter, and whether you can secure permanent bonuses for items.

Most resource collection areas necessitate the commitment of Frostland Teams to gather resources and transport them back to your city, with the duration of this commitment varying.

For temporary caches of items, your Frostland Teams only need to make a single trip, typically taking a few weeks before they can be deployed for additional expeditions.

However, Harvesting points differ. To secure a consistent supply of Food, Fuel, and other resources, some of your Frostland Teams must remain on-site to oversee operations.

How to Set Up Outposts in Frostpunk 2

Next, consider establishing Outposts. These permanent bases allow your Frostland Teams to enjoy various benefits, such as improved Research speed and operational bases that lower Expedition risks. The best part is that these benefits don’t require additional Resources, allowing you to conserve your Heatstamps that would otherwise be used for building construction.

In exchange, the Frostland Teams assigned to these Outposts are permanently removed from your pool of available explorers until you deactivate the Outpost. Also, these bases must be connected to your City through Trails or Skyways, so ensure you’ve established these connections before committing valuable explorers to a distant location.

How to Build Trails and Skyways

To efficiently transport resources between your city and various harvesting points, constructing Trails and Skyways is essential. Trails are available from the start, while Skyways require research from the Frostland Research tree.

To create a path, click either icon at the bottom right of the Frostland Map screen. This action places stakes in the ground; you need to position them within the designated black spots on the terrain. Continue planting and drag the cursor toward your city or the trail you wish to connect with, then click the Check Mark icon when ready to construct.

These paths require Heatstamps, Prefabs, and Frostland Teams to build, so ensure you have adequate resources before construction.

Now you’re equipped with everything you need to know about exploring the Frostland and optimizing your experience in Frostpunk 2. It may seem overwhelming at first, but in time, you’ll navigate the frozen wilderness like a seasoned survivor in a post-apocalyptic world.
