Understanding Netizen Support for T-ara Jiyeon’s Divorce Decision

On September 5th, JTBC reported that Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun have submitted a divorce mediation application to the Seoul Family Court last month, indicating they are in the process of officially ending their marriage.

In light of these developments, netizens are flocking to Jiyeon’s Instagram account to express their support, largely believing the earlier rumors surrounding Hwang Jae-gyun’s alleged infidelity. Supportive comments include, “No matter what anyone says, you’re the best,” “We’ll support whatever decision you make,” and “I hope you’re always happy.”

Last month, Jiyeon shared several photos on her personal Instagram account without any accompanying commentary. Many fans took to the comments section to leave messages of encouragement, stating, “No matter what anyone says, you’re the best,” “We’ll support whatever decision you make,” and “I hope you’re always happy.”

Jiyeon and baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun tied the knot in 2022, drawing numerous congratulations from fans and friends. However, recent divorce rumors have cast a shadow over their marriage. This speculation first emerged when commentator Lee Gwang-gil mentioned the couple on NN PowerFM radio, along with a fellow broadcaster. An official from Jiyeon’s former agency later denied the rumors, confirming that Jiyeon stated they were untrue.

Prior to these divorce allegations, Hwang Jae-gyun was under fire for a bench-clearing incident during a game in June. As a direct result, Jiyeon faced a wave of malicious comments directed at her Instagram and YouTube channels, prompting her to take a break from her YouTube activities.

On September 5, OSEN reported that Hwang Jae-gyun was seen drinking at a bar until 6 a.m. He was allegedly with a group that included women during this outing. A representative from KT Wiz clarified to OSEN that Hwang confirmed he had indeed been drinking until the early hours of September 1st following a game in Daejeon, noting that it was a scheduled day off without any planned games or training.

In the meantime, Jiyeon has recently announced her return to YouTube, while Hwang Jae-gyun has opted to delete his social media accounts.
