Understanding Redshirting in College Football: A Guide for RTG & Dynasty Players

Redshirting in college football is when a player chooses to sit out for a season in order to preserve their four years of eligibility. This strategy can be beneficial for players in College Football 25, as it allows them to gain an additional year in both Road to Glory and Dynasty modes.

In popular video game franchises such as Madden or MLB The Show, players have the ability to create a custom character and play through multiple seasons. However, college athletes are limited to only four years of eligibility, resulting in shorter journeys in games like College Football 25 Road to Glory.

Thankfully, gamers have the ability to transfer their saved Road to Glory data to Madden 25, allowing them to continue their career. For those who want to maximize their time in Road to Glory and Dynasty modes, utilizing a redshirt can be a beneficial choice.

Players who do not participate in at least four games during their freshman year in College Football 25 Road to Glory or Dynasty will be granted redshirt status, allowing them to play an additional year.

In Dynasty, if you have a recruit with potential but no immediate spot on the starting roster, you can place them at the bottom of the depth chart and still maintain their four years of eligibility.

In Road to Glory, it is not possible for players to choose when they will play, which presents a greater difficulty in achieving redshirt status. Therefore, we suggest selecting a four or five-star school where the likelihood of receiving playing time is lower.

If you are searching for a school, it is important to note the top three players in your position on the depth chart. In order to secure redshirt status, it is advisable to consider schools where there are three highly-rated players ahead of you, as this reduces the likelihood of losing playing time to them.

Currently, there is a known glitch in College Football 25 Road to Glory that allows players to earn an excessive amount of XP and skill points. We advise players to refrain from using these skill points if they wish to retain their redshirt status.

If you were to suddenly increase your overall rating from 60 to 93 by applying those skill points, you would quickly move up the depth chart and receive more playing time, potentially jeopardizing your redshirt status.
