Siphon is a mechanic in Fortnite that allows players to regenerate health and shield upon eliminating an enemy. This ability can prove extremely beneficial when you’re low on resources or nearing the final circle without any medkits or shield potions nearby.
In Chapter 5, Season 4, players can activate this mechanic by defeating the Doombot at Castle Doom and looting his remains. Upon defeat, he drops the Siphon Medallion, which can be equipped. However, like other Medallions in the game, there’s a significant cost involved.
While the Siphon Medallion enables health and shield regeneration, equipping it also reveals your location to all players on the map. Consequently, every opponent will always be aware of your position, regardless of where you are in Fortnite.
This downside won’t be an issue if you are confident in your abilities and know the location of all the Mythics. Additionally, the current loot pool this season offers a fantastic “broken combo”you can use to dominate your adversaries.

Introduced on September 24, the Siphon mechanic returns through the Siphon Trials after being absent from Ranked game modes for over a year. The Siphon Trials consist of a series of challenges that incorporate various versions of the Siphon mechanic.
Each week will introduce a variation of the Siphon mechanic during the Siphon Trials, as outlined below:
- Week 1 (Sept 24): 40 Effective Health
- Week 2 (Oct 1): 50 Effective Health
- Week 3 (Oct 8): 25 Effective Health
- Week 4 (Oct 15): 75 Health Over Time (No Shield)
- Week 5 (Oct 22): 50 Health (No Shield)
- Week 6 (Oct 29): 25 Health, 25 Shield
You can participate in the Siphon Trials by queuing for Ranked Battle Royale, Ranked Zero Build, and Tournaments. Please note that Ranked Reload and Reload Tournaments will not feature the Siphon mechanic.
