In Enotria: The Last Song, status effects present a unique aspect of gameplay. Unlike typical games where status effects inflict damage over time or increase a character’s vulnerability to specific attack types, in Enotria, every status effect comes with both positive and negative consequences. While status effects can be incredibly potent in Enotria, mastering them poses a challenge. The absence of a comprehensive guide—relying instead on brief tutorial tips—adds to the complexity.

The Vis Status Effect

Represented by a cup of wine, the status effect known as Dizzy is the most frequently encountered status in the game. Characters become Dizzy by rolling into a red barrel or stepping into the red liquid commonly found in various buildings. Elemental attacks can also inflict Dizziness.

While Dizziness enhances damage output and stamina recovery, it simultaneously lowers defensive capabilities.

The Fatuo Status Effect

Fatuo, associated with magic, produces a status effect called Wicked. This effect amplifies elemental damage, allowing players to inflict increased harm when striking enemies using Vis, Fatuo, Gratia, or Malanno under the influence of Wicked.

However, characters experiencing the Wicked status will heal their enemies upon receiving damage.

The Malanno Status Effect

Malanno signifies sickness, and true to its name, it inflicts poisoning. Characters and enemies poisoned by Malanno will gradually lose health until the effect subsides. Additionally, standing too close to a character affected by Malanno can result in poisoning for the player as well.

The Gratia Status Effect

Gratia translates to favor, often carrying religious implications, which is likely why it serves as the healing status in Enotria. Characters or enemies under the Gratia effect will see their health bars refill gradually.

However, being attacked while under the effects of Gratia will cause a powerful explosion, making it advisable to strike from a distance against enemies affected by this status.

Elemental Enemies

Elemental enemies—unique variants of standard foes permanently affected by a particular element—behave differently than typical adversaries. For starters, they will retain their status effect regardless of player interactions. They also take increased damage from elements that are stronger than their own, and while they predominantly attack using their element, they can mix in other attacks. Lastly, these enemies boast significantly more health than regular foes.

In essence, elemental enemies act as mini-bosses, pushing players to effectively utilize status effects and elemental strengths. Defeating them without exploiting their elemental weakness can be time-consuming, if not nearly impossible.
