In the endgame of Path of Exile 2, players encounter a diverse array of mechanics that enhance gameplay. Among these, the Delirium league mechanic often perplexes players the most, despite its intriguing offerings.
Understanding Delirium and the Delirium Mirror in Path of Exile 2
When exploring the endgame Atlas in Path of Exile 2, players will notice icons that signify different mechanics on maps or nodes. The Delirium icon indicates that a Delirium Mirror resides on the selected map.
Upon entering a node designated with the Delirium icon, players will find the Mirror positioned near the map’s starting point. Interacting with the Delirium Mirror triggers the mechanic, which may not always be immediately apparent; therefore, it’s essential to engage with the Mirror right from the start.
Activating the Delirium Mirror envelops the map in a layer of Delirium fog. This fog spawns Delirious monsters throughout the area, and players will encounter crystalline prisons which, when approached, will generate additional enemies.
In the bottom-left corner of the screen, a small icon with a counter becomes visible once the Delirium Mirror is activated. This counter starts at one and increases as players defeat monsters. However, achieving higher counts becomes significantly more challenging after reaching counts of 5 or 6, prompting players to target these thresholds for optimal rewards.
The icon and its counter are directly linked to the types of rewards available. Notably, all rewards tend to include Distilled items, which serve primarily for anointing amulets to grant additional passive skill nodes. Given that some of these items can fluctuate in market value, they often prove lucrative; it’s not uncommon for players to sell some for more than 5 Exalted Orbs.
To maximize the number of counters, players must actively remain within the Delirium fog while they dispatch enemies. A visible timer displaying “0:05” indicates the approaching dissipation of the fog if players fail to return within that timeframe. Although the fog moves in a particular direction, it covers a vast area; thus, it’s advisable to advance methodically through maps to maintain the Delirious fog. Should the timer expire, the Delirium encounter concludes, and rewards will be automatically dropped.
Evaluating the Worth of Delirium Farming in Path of Exile 2
As noted previously, the lucrative Distilled items earned through Delirium farming contribute significantly to players’ currency pools. The additional monsters that Delirium introduces can substantially enhance loot drops, especially rare items.
However, it’s essential to consider that Delirium may not be the most efficient farming method during early access, especially when compared to the Breach mechanic. The monster density introduced by Breach surpasses that of a typical Delirium encounter.
As the game progresses, the market for Breachstones could decline in value as player activity increases. In contrast, targeting Simulacrums during Delirium sessions may yield greater returns. Therefore, players should regularly assess the market prices of both Breachstones and Simulacrums and adjust their farming techniques accordingly to maximize their currency gains.
