Understanding the Diablo 4 Season 6 Welcome Back Boost

During the recent Diablo 4 Season 6 midseason Campfire Chat, Blizzard made an exciting announcement for players in the Eternal Realm: the introduction of the “Welcome Back Boost.”This boost is designed to assist returning players in their journey back to the game by providing significant incentives tailored for them.

In addition to confirming that there would be no nerfing of the Spiritborn class, the Campfire Chat focused on the benefits of the Welcome Back Boost, which promises a streamlined path for players to re-engage with the game and quickly reach endgame content, minimizing the usual grind.

There are a total of 160 Altars of Lilith in the game.

What Are the Benefits of the Welcome Back Boost?

The Welcome Back Boost offers substantial advantages: it elevates an Eternal Realm character directly to level 50, allows players to choose from three optimized builds based on their selected class, and provides suitable gear for those configurations. Most notably, it also unlocks all Altars of Lilith for that character.

Unlocking the Altars of Lilith is a crucial aspect of gameplay, as it significantly contributes to Renown, leading to multiple character level-ups. Each Altar also enhances your character’s attributes slightly. With 160 Altars scattered throughout Diablo 4, unlocking all of them drastically amplifies a character’s overall power.

Once an Altar is unlocked with one character, all other characters benefit from that unlocked status, meaning players only need to track down each Altar a single time. While many seasoned players may already have all Altars unlocked, the Welcome Back Boost presents a pivotal opportunity for those who have yet to achieve this milestone.

Prior to this update, unlocking the Altars of Lilith with one character would apply to all characters across both the Eternal and Seasonal realms. However, the Welcome Back Boost is exclusive to the Eternal Realm; hence, players who utilize this feature may still need to manually unlock all Altars for characters in the Seasonal Realm. Nonetheless, similar to before, once unlocked through the traditional means, all future seasonal characters will gain the benefits.

Season 6 of Diablo 4 coincided with the release of the Vessel of Hatred DLC.

Optimal Timing for Using the Welcome Back Boost

Players who own the standard version of Diablo 4 will receive one Welcome Back Boost. Those who have purchased the Vessel of Hatred DLC will receive a second boost. These boosts can be applied at any time and on any character within the Eternal Realm, but it’s important to note that they are one-time-use items.

Given this, it’s critical to select the right characters for applying these boosts. For example, using a boost on a character that is already at level 50 with access to endgame content would be inefficient. It is advisable to utilize the boosts on characters you want to advance to level 50, particularly those you plan to play with the DLC included.

Alternatively, players may consider using the boosts on older seasonal characters that have transitioned to the Eternal Realm but remained underlevel. For those still completing the base game campaign and eager to experience the DLC without skipping content, the Welcome Back Boost is an excellent option.
