Understanding the Ending of Emily in Paris Season 4 Part 1

The opening of season 4, part 1 of Emily in Paris picks up where the previous season left off with a cliffhanger. Camille (Camille Razat) had dropped a major bombshell during her and Gabriel’s (Lucas Bravo) planned wedding, revealing that she was pregnant with his child. This shocking revelation stays true to the show’s playful nature.

The situation became even more complicated when Camille announced that Gabriel still harbored feelings for Emily (Lily Collins), causing Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) to break off Emily’s relationship. Despite this, Emily handled the situation admirably by keeping Camille and Sofia’s (Melia Kreiling) affair a secret in order to prevent further drama among the group in Paris.

Ever since Alfie left Emily, Camille has not been in touch with Gabriel and Emily has not communicated with Alfie. The situation became more complicated when Ami, a client of Agence Grateau, selected Emily and Alfie to promote their hot air balloon company on social media. As per the marketing strategy, Ami’s supervisor wants them to publicly display their relationship by attending a tennis match.

At the boxing gym, Emily shares details of Ami’s campaign with Alfie and discusses the events that took place at the wedding. Alfie informs her that he still requires additional time. To Emily’s relief, Alfie shows up at the tennis match and saves the marketing campaign, even giving her a final kiss. However, at the match, he ends their relationship as he is unable to move past her complicated romantic history with Gabriel.

Despite Emily’s hope, Camille remains missing at the end of Episode 1 and is not in Greece with her unpredictable girlfriend Sofia. When Emily eventually locates Camille, the latter admits to using Emily as an excuse to cancel the wedding and apologizes for her actions. Furthermore, Sofia makes a trip to France to check on Camille’s well-being. As they settle into Gabriel’s apartment, Emily and Gabriel strive to address their emotions towards each other.

Before the ball, Gabriel confesses his continued feelings to Emily and sneaks out of the restaurant to meet her. Mindy, who is surprised by their unexpected encounter, convinces Emily to choose between Gabriel and Alfie.

Emily is initially uncertain about who to choose, but as soon as she sees Gabriel dancing, she knows he is the one she wants to spend the rest of her life with. As the night comes to a close, they slip away together, unaware that Alfie, who had just professed his love to someone he believed was Emily, is heartbrokenly watching them depart.

Alfie arrives at the agency’s Masquerade ball, feeling optimistic about their future together. Later that night, Alfie confides in someone that he doesn’t want to be stuck with them, but rather he wants Emily. Despite the upcoming arrival of their baby, the three adults of Camille, Sofia, and Gabriel’s small apartment manage to maintain their complex relationships throughout the first five episodes of season 4 of Emily in Paris. However, Sofia ultimately reaches her breaking point and makes the difficult decision to return to Athens.

Despite leaving Greece to ensure Camille’s well-being, the artist had no plans of permanently relocating or becoming a co-parent. However, following the breakup, Camille experiences stress and decides to seek medical attention.

The doctor requests for her to examine Camille and ensure that everything is in order after Camille answers a few routine inquiries. The following scene reveals Camille smoking a cigarette at a café with her friend in the next shot of Emily in Paris.

Despite the fact that she never became pregnant, the biggest revelation was that her period had stopped due to stress. The false positive result on her pregnancy test had initially led her to believe otherwise. Despite having the chance to confide in Gabriel at the end of the previous episode, Camille chooses to keep the truth to herself, with the support of her friend.

In the climax of Emily in Paris season 3, Luc (Bruno Gouery) helps Emily in her quest to get Gabriel’s restaurant recognized for a Michelin star. Interestingly, Marianne (Laurence Gormezano), who happens to be Luc’s ex-partner, is a supposed Michelin inspector who visits previously awarded restaurants to ensure they still meet the required standards.

Despite being on the brink, Marianne advises Gabriel to invest in a better pastry chef for his restaurant. This decision ends up costing him a significant amount of money, time, and effort, but in episode 5, it proves to be futile.

After Sylvie forgets to make dinner reservations for her husband’s birthday, Luc takes charge and calls his partner Marianne to secure a reservation at the Michelin-starred restaurant. However, the dinner takes an unexpected turn when it comes time to pay.

Despite Marianne’s pleading with the waiter to cover the cost of their meal and her threat to withhold a star if they refuse, a real Michelin investigator reveals that she was fired a year ago for insider dining while they were at the restaurant. As a result, Gabriel comes to the conclusion that the Michelin star is ultimately unattainable.

Sofia informs Camille in Episode 5 that she plans on returning home, effectively ending their relationship. She adds that she has no intentions of staying in Paris and extends an invitation for Camille to join her in travelling to Athens. Sofia emphasizes that there are plenty of suitable locations to raise a child aside from Paris. She also points out the obstacle of Camille and Gabriel living within close proximity, hindering the advancement of their relationship.

Despite Sofia and Camille’s initial positive beginnings, Sofia hastily departs when she realizes she needs to secure an apartment and co-parent in Paris. In the end, the artist’s lack of dedication to living abroad and starting a family clashes with Camille’s unwavering decision on their destination.

Despite Marianne’s lies, she and Luc remain a quirky couple. While Mindy’s bandmate Benoît (Kevin Dias) may still seem like a potential love interest, her love for Nicolas only grows when he finally stands up to his father.

Despite Netflix not yet releasing a trailer for Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 2, it is expected that the second episode will address significant topics. These include the possibility of Camille revealing her pregnancy to Gabriel or choosing to continue pretending in order to preserve their relationship.

While Alfie appears to be less involved at the moment, he hasn’t been prominently featured since the masquerade ball in Episode 3. However, it remains uncertain how Camille will fit into their dynamic now that Sofia has officially departed for Greece.

Mindy and her band have been selected to compete in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Despite the pressure and demands of the competition, Mindy and Benoît’s relationship remains strong, especially following their successful performance at Laurent’s nightclub. Will Part Two of their journey together finally bring their hidden feelings to the surface?

The reason for Emily’s upcoming Roman vacation remains unclear in Part One, but it is revealed in Part Two that she is also planning to depart from Paris to Rome. To give fans a glimpse of what’s to come, Netflix will most likely release a trailer for the final five episodes in the upcoming weeks.
