First introduced in Chapter 120, Count Saint-Germain quickly becomes a point of contention among the Serpoians, who are perplexed about his ties to the Kurs—an aggressive race of aliens intent on conquering Earth, just as they have previously done on other planets.

In a tense moment, Turbo Granny stumbles upon a Serpo communicator and reacts with tangible anger upon seeing Germain, implying a past familiarity. Significantly, she refers to him as a “hyper geezer,” though the details of this term remain unclear. To this day, his true age and species are shrouded in mystery.

Germain has a peculiar fascination with all things paranormal, frequently collecting objects and harnessing the powers of various beings. Following the Kurs invasion, he takes on the role of deputy head teacher at the History and Culture Research Club at Kami High under the disguise of Sanjome.

Assessing Count Saint-Germain’s Power

The full extent of Count Saint-Germain’s powers remains undisclosed, but he wields an impressive range of abilities. Primarily, he is adept with a katana and possesses a unique weapon known as a “power extraction knife.” This enables him to extract powers from both humans and yokai.

However, there is a catch—his target must concede defeat for him to successfully extract their abilities. For instance, he acquired the formidable “Fairy-Tale Card” from a yokai under these conditions.

Moreover, there are hints that he may possess some form of memory manipulation. While donning the identity of Sanjome, he inadvertently triggers an odd response in people’s memories, leading them to feel a sense of familiarity with the name, even if they can’t recall the individual connected to it.

The Historical Inspiration Behind Count Saint-Germain

Count Saint-Germain derives inspiration from a real European adventurer who became prominent in aristocratic circles during the 18th century. Like his fictional counterpart, the historical Count’s true origins remain a mystery, marked by a profound interest in various fields including science, art, philosophy, and alchemy.

Notoriously, he claimed to be over 500 years old, earning the respect of many contemporaries, including Charles, Prince of Hesse-Kassel, who labeled him as “one of the greatest philosophers who ever lived.”
