Unifying Two Key Characters: A Recap of Bungo Stray Dogs Chapter 118

In Bungo Stray Dogs Chapter 118, Atsushi and Fyodor have their first interaction with each other.

Despite being the central figure and main opponent in Bungo Stray Dogs, the two have never shared a scene together. This can be attributed to their contrasting methods of operation – Atsushi is known for his direct approach, while Fyodor prefers to work behind the scenes.

Despite their long-standing rivalry, the true nemesis of the Russian has always been Dazai, as they both possess a similar cunningness and penchant for devious schemes. However, neither has been able to gain a permanent advantage over the other.

Despite Dazai’s best efforts, Fyodor ultimately emerges victorious in their ongoing game. By faking his own death and taking over Bram’s body, the villain is able to resurrect himself and unleash the deadly Ame-no-Gozen on the members of the Armed Detective Agency.

In Chapters 117 and 118, the enigmatic individual brutally murders three members – Kunikida, Tanizaki, and Kenji – causing Atsushi to spiral into despair. While the young man is mourning, he is approached by Fyodor, who claims to be there to rescue Atsushi.

The conclusion of Chapter 118 leaves us uncertain about Fyodor’s intentions to “save”the main character. However, given his villainous nature, it is evident that his plans involve something malicious and have no relation to aiding anyone. It is possible that he is scheming to exploit Atsushi’s vulnerable mental state for his own agenda.

Similarly, readers are cautious of the Russian’s abrupt appearance, just like the protagonist. One person shared on Twitter, “Disrupting Atsushi’s life, stripping him of everything and meeting him at his lowest point, all while still maintaining his trademark kind smile. Oh Fyodor, that’s who you are.”

“Did Fyodor spare him? Have we finally witnessed their interaction? We must uncover something new about Atsushi, even if not from Fyodor, then from someone else,”another user commented.

A third individual warned, “It is important to remember that Fyodor is a pathological liar, and anything he says may have a completely different meaning or no meaning at all. Therefore, any information he shares with Atsushi should be approached with caution.”

Hopefully, the release of Chapter 119 around October 4, 2024 will reveal Fyodor’s true intention.
