The developers of Diablo 4 have temporarily reduced the power of one of Season 5’s new Unique Weapons, as it was causing an XP glitch that allowed players to obtain millions of XP for free.
After the game was launched, players began to report receiving large amounts of free XP after defeating specific enemies, resulting in a sudden increase of 20-30 levels. The developers were promptly notified of the issue and took action to fix it.
The malfunction was sparked by The Umbracrux, a distinctive dagger that was added in Season 5. This dagger creates a Shade Totem that can be targeted and has the ability to distribute 20% of the damage to all enemies in the vicinity.

Adam Fletcher, the Global Community Development Director at Blizzard, officially discussed this matter in the Diablo 4 forums on August 7. He reassured players that a solution is already being worked on.
“Fletcher informed the team of a problem where players were exploiting ‘The Umbracrux’ Unique in order to gain an excessive amount of experience by killing specific bosses.”
“As we work on a solution, the unique power for this weapon will be temporarily disabled. As a result, players will no longer be able to summon a Shade Totem with this weapon,”he explained.
Despite temporarily disabling the Unique effect in Season 5, he reassured players that they can still obtain and equip the weapon. Although they will no longer be able to utilize the skill, they can store it in their inventory until a solution is implemented.
Despite the numerous bugs and glitches that have arisen since the start of Diablo 4 Season 5, some have actually been beneficial for players, such as the carried-over Temper Manuals. Although Blizzard chose to overlook this, they did not hesitate to address the XP glitch.
