Fans were shocked when UNIS member Kotoko fainted on stage during the group’s performance. Following the incident, both the idol and her agency have addressed the matter.
At the 2024 Midsummer Night’s Cultural Festival on August 3, 2024, UNIS took the stage and wowed the audience with an energetic Mini K-POP Concert. The crowd was thrilled as they performed a range of songs, including a captivating cover of TWICE’s popular track, “What is Love?”Unfortunately, towards the end of their performance, a sudden incident occurred when Kotoko collapsed on stage.

Despite their visible panic, the remaining members immediately halted their performance to attend to her well-being. The stage lights were promptly dimmed and Kotoko was escorted backstage to recuperate. Shortly after, F&F Entertainment, their agency, issued a statement informing that Kotoko had been swiftly taken to the hospital and was currently resting.

A video of Kotoko collapsing on stage quickly went viral on social media. Worried fans and netizens expressed their concerns about Kotoko’s well-being, prompting the young idol to address the situation through a post. In her message, she sought to reassure fans by stating that she had regained her strength through rest. She also urged fans not to worry and promised to take care of her health.

Kotoko is one of the members of UNIS, a girl group that was created in January of this year through the reality show “Universe Ticket.”The group is composed of Jin Hyeon Ju, Gehlee Dangca, Kotoko, Bang Yunha, Elisia, Oh Yoona, Nana, and Lim Seowon. On March 27, UNIS made their official debut.
Many were surprised by the ages of the members in the group’s lineup. The youngest, Lim Seowon, was born in 2011, making her just 13 years old. UNIS also consists of three 15-year-old members born in 2009, three 17-year-old members born in 2007, and one 23-year-old member born in 2001.
Despite their youthful debut ages, the management company of the group has faced criticism and concerns. These concerns have been amplified by Kotoko’s fainting incident and her visibly thin appearance, leading to accusations that the girls, who should be focusing on their education, are being pushed into the entertainment industry too soon and overworked. Many are questioning if this constant workload will lead to burnout and if it is the best decision for these young idols.
