While playing Deadlock, you may have come across Flex Slots, a feature that the game doesn’t fully explain. We’re here to clarify what they are and how to unlock them.
With Valve giving recognition to Deadlock, this hero shooter MOBA is generating substantial hype as it rises through the Steam rankings during its closed Alpha phase.
For players fortunate enough to access the game, it quickly becomes clear that it’s complex, featuring numerous mechanics and details that aren’t adequately covered. Whether it’s the mid-boss rejuvenator or Flex Slots, the game has layers to explore.
So, let’s delve into what Flex Slots are and how to unlock them in Deadlock.
What are Flex Slots in Deadlock?
Flex Slots are additional item slots that allow you to equip any class of items you prefer.
You can unlock four slots in total, where you can place either a Weapon, Vitality, or Spirit item to enhance your buffs in those categories.
There are four extra Flex Slots to the right of the other item slots.
This means if your strategy requires extra damage or sustainability, you can easily acquire additional items that boost your stats and give you an advantage over your opponents.
The only limitation you face with Flex Slots pertains to active items. Since you can only maintain four active items at one time, if your active slots are filled, you cannot acquire more from that category.
How to unlock all four Flex Slots in Deadlock
Each of the four Flex Slots has specific conditions for unlocking. Here’s what you need to achieve for each:
- Slot 1: Unlocked after your team destroys two enemy Walkers.
- Slot 2: Unlocked after your team destroys all enemy Walkers.
- Slot 3: Unlocked after your team destroys all enemy Lane Guardians.
- Slot 4: Unlocked after your team destroys an enemy Shrine.
Note that Slot 3 was previously unlocked by defeating a certain number of enemy Base Guardians; now, you must destroy all Lane Guardians. Additionally, Slot 1 now requires the destruction of two enemy Walkers instead of one.
Importantly, if any single player completes one of these objectives, it unlocks for the entire team. This promotes teamwork, making it beneficial to assist your allies in achieving these goals more quickly.
Taking down a Walker will grant your team a Flex Slot.
To optimize your chances of unlocking all the slots, focus on destroying two enemy Walkers first. If a teammate has recently taken down a Tower, consider assisting them in eliminating the Walker swiftly.
After that, it’s advisable to help other teammates defeat their Lane Guardians to secure the second slot. Depending on the match’s status, destroying all enemy Walkers might be simpler than taking out a Shrine; evaluate which objective is easier at that moment.
While these objectives typically occur in the mid to late game, remember that the mid-boss can spawn around this time, so be careful not to become overly focused on attaining all the Flex Slots.
