Unlocking Hades in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Storybook Vale

If you’re a fan of Hercules, you’re in for a treat! After a long wait, the intriguing Hades is finally available as a villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley. However, his arrival requires a bit of effort on your part before he joins your adventure.

As a pivotal figure in the narrative of Storybook Vale, Hades plays an essential role. While Maleficent won’t appear in the first part of the game, players can find Hades lurking in Mythopia, one of the three major biomes introduced in the latest DLC. It’s advisable to explore Mythopia after unlocking Everafter and recruiting Flynn Rider, as their stories are intertwined, and adding Flynn to your roster is a bit more straightforward.

Steps to Unlock Hades

Unlocking the Mythopia Biome

To gain access to the Mythopia biome, you will need 2,000 Story Magic. Enter through the wall of ink located to the right of the Bind, which will guide you into The Elysian Fields.

Prior to opening this region, it is recommended that you complete Merida’s main quests and recruit Flynn Rider to expedite your Story Magic gathering. Ensure that you catch as many Snippets as possible and mine every ore node you encounter along the way; this strategy will significantly speed up the process.

Completing “The Land of Myths and Legends” Quest

The Elysian Fields Disney Dreamlight Valley

Once you find yourself in The Elysian Fields, it’s time to explore. Here, you can collect essential resources, including Demon Snippets, Nutmeg, and olives. Gathering these items is crucial for your progress, so take your time to stock up.

Additionally, remember to activate Goofy’s Stall and the fast travel point within this biome. This will facilitate quicker navigation as you tackle the upcoming challenges and quests.

Step 1: Head South of The Elysian Fields

Similar to Flynn Rider’s quests, you’ll need to venture to the southernmost section of The Elysian Fields where a pavilion infested with Inkies awaits your arrival. After discovering this location, consult the Lorekeeper’s book in the Library of Lore to learn how to access the dungeon.

After your discussion with the Lorekeeper, reunite with Merida to return to the pavilion.

Step 2: Illuminate the Sconces

While en route, you’ll encounter a blue flame, which Merida will identify as a Will-o’-Whisp. Capture this flame and then locate a second one in the vicinity. Once you have both flames, return to the pavilion and speak with Merida.

Insert each flame into the sconces flanking the gear pedestal. Utilize the Royal Net to rid the area of the ink infestation, thereby commencing the next quest.

Step 3: Completing “Guts & Glory”

It’s time to delve into the dungeon where Hades resides. Unlike Flynn, Hades will be visible in a cutscene as soon as you enter the area. However, rescuing him from this part of the world will prove to be challenging.

Engage in conversation with Hades (who’s definitely not caught in the Mythic Trial) and assist by pushing his cart forward. Then, follow Hades down the pathway to the right.

Once you reach Hades, employ your Royal Net to spin the gear. You might spot a green treasure chest, but be aware that it’s obstructed by a number of glowing holes.

Align the paths and proceed. Continue across the bridge to reach another lever. Pull this lever to lower the bridge and clear the rocks blocking your path. After crossing, use your Royal Net on the gear wheel before pushing the cart once more.

As you proceed, apply your fishing rod on any peculiar disturbances to facilitate crossing. Repeat this method at each gear wheel and lever until successfully maneuvering all obstacles and reaching Hades.

Step 4: Welcome Hades to Storybook Vale

To integrate Hades into Storybook Vale, establish his home within the Elysian Fields. Once his abode is complete, Hades will start his journey around the fields, becoming available to assist you further as you rebuild other areas of the biome.

Completing “Mythic Restoration” in Storybook Vale

After Hades has settled in, he will present you with a new task. Engage with him to initiate the “Mythic Restoration” quest. Despite his famously mischievous demeanor, he will require your help in gathering several items.

Head into The Elysian Fields to collect:

x3 Crimson Eternal Poppies
x5 Posidonium
x10 Gravel

Once you’ve amassed these components, return to Hades to complete the quest.

Now that Hades is officially part of your adventure, don’t forget to explore the friendship quests with Merida and Flynn Rider, as well as the various recipes available in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
