Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone are set to launch their midseason update, titled Season 1 Reloaded, on December 5. This exciting update will introduce a plethora of new features, including the highly anticipated Citadelle des Mortes Zombies map and the introduction of Battle Royale Ranked Play. Gamers can also unlock three new weapons, among which is the Maelstrom Shotgun.
Unlocking the Maelstrom Shotgun in Warzone and Black Ops 6
The Maelstrom Shotgun can be attained through the Merry Mayhem event, spanning from December 5 to December 19. To unlock this powerful weapon, players must accumulate Experience Points (XP) for various rewards. While the exact XP requirement is still unclear, previous rewards indicate that achieving close to 100,000 XP will be necessary, with the second-to-last reward set at 68,000 XP.
This two-week period offers ample opportunity for players to earn the requisite XP. For those who may not reach the target within the event’s timeline, fear not—the Maelstrom will be made available in the armory following the event.
Subsequently, the Archie’s Festival Frenzy event will take place from December 19 to January 3, allowing players to unlock the AMR Mod 4 Sniper Rifle. Additionally, later in the season, a new melee weapon called the Cleaver will be introduced through another event.
Overview of the Maelstrom Shotgun
The Maelstrom Shotgun boasts a fully automatic function; as the developers describe, it is designed to “overwhelm enemies with a hail of lead.” It offers commendable range and handling, making it particularly effective in close quarters. However, players should be mindful of its recoil and hip fire spread, which may limit its performance at longer distances.
In multiplayer mode, the Maelstrom is an excellent choice for small Strike maps, providing an edge in fast-paced confrontations. For Warzone, it is advisable to pair it with a medium to long-range weapon, such as the XM4, to address various combat scenarios effectively. Furthermore, in Zombies mode, expect the Maelstrom’s rapid fire rate to be instrumental in fending off hordes of undead.
