After defeating formidable enemies and navigating perilous terrains, the quest of the Destined One culminates as he confronts his ultimate adversary. This culminates in a secret ending that acts as the genuine finale to the game. In this guide, I will outline the steps to attain the true secret ending for Black Myth Wukong, where you will battle Erlang and the Four Heavenly Kings.
Unlocking the Secret True Ending in Black Myth Wukong
To unlock the secret ending for the game, you don’t need to finish the game first. After reaching Mount Huaguo in Chapter 6, you can initiate the secret boss fight from there. However, you do need to uncover all the secret areas in the game first. Additionally, completing the Treasure Hunter Quest is essential. Let’s go through the necessary steps.
Finish Secret Areas in Different Chapters
The secret areas play a crucial role in the narrative progression of Black Myth Wukong. Each secret area provides a vessel to assist in overcoming the final boss of that chapter.
In total, there are five secret areas within the game. You need to discover and complete four secret areas to gain access to the fifth one, which reveals the secret true ending of Black Myth Wukong.

Complete the “Treasure Hunter” Quest in Chapter 3
In Chapter 3, there is an NPC quest titled “Treasure Hunter” given after rescuing a traveler from bat enemies. Begin your quest at the North Shore of Bitter Lake near the Giant Turtle.
Saving the Traveler from Bat Enemies
Upon reaching the shack where Chen Loong provides you with the Painted Realm Scroll, you will notice a temple entrance to the right.
Enter the temple to hear cries for help from a traveler. Defeat the bat creatures, then speak to the NPC, who will mention watermelons and treasure. This initiates the Treasure Hunter quest.
Using Ring of Fire Spell to Save Traveler From Cold
Next, meet him by the Towers of Karma Shrine. Ensure you equip the Ring of Fire spell before exiting the Shrine menu. Move right until you hear him shivering and asking for warmth. Approach and cast the Ring of Fire spell to help him.
He will express gratitude after warming up. The traveler shares a story about a child dropping a watermelon off a cliff, leading you to the Melon Fields.
Fight Against Green-Capped Martialist
To access the Melon Fields, go to the Forest of Felicity Shrine, take the right path, descend to the water pool, then drop down to the Melon Fields area, initiating a boss fight with “The Green-Capped Martialist.”
After winning the battle, you’ll obtain the Spell Binder spell and complete the “Treasure Hunter” quest.
Access The Fifth Secret Area
After uncovering all four secret areas and finishing the treasure hunter quest, proceed to the Great Pagoda in The New West (after starting Chapter 6). If this is your first visit, while facing the Snow-Veiled Trail Shrine, choose the left path with the rope bridge. At the end, a giant door with blue glowing particles allows you to enter the Great Pagoda.
Inside, the wall paintings will be mostly complete (except for two). Approach the blank wall in the center, where a child Buddha stands, triggering a cutscene and granting access to the Chapter 3 secret area, Mount Mei. This leads to a confrontation with Erlang Shen and the Four Heavenly Kings.
Upon defeating these bosses, you’ll acquire the Azure Dome Spell Transformation. Finish the game by defeating the final boss of Chapter 6 to unlock the secret true ending of Black Myth Wukong.
