For many players of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, it can be challenging to encounter a Shiny Pokemon. Unless you utilize additional methods such as the highly effective Shiny Sandwiches or take advantage of the ongoing Mass Outbreaks, these rare creatures can be very difficult to come across.
One Trainer has discovered a rare Shiny that elevates the excitement, as it is not only incredibly uncommon, but also impossible for anyone else to catch except for Arven.
As brought up by a player of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet on Reddit, they were able to participate in a Titan Pokemon boss battle with the NPC Arven. However, the Trainer, who is a fan of dogs, surprised them by using a Shiny Toedscool.

Upon reflecting on the events, the author of the post revealed that during their second playthrough of Violet, they only came across Arven’s Shiny Toedsool when it perished in battle.
It is natural that many of the comments below the post are questioning how this could have occurred. As it turns out, this is not the first instance where something similar has been reported.
One comment was discussing the peculiar phenomenon, stating, “Why did they forget to Shiny lock this particular Pokemon?!”Another individual chimed in, saying, “Oh, I wasn’t aware that was possible. That’s pretty interesting.”
Despite initial interest, confusion arose when some players began asking questions about the event. One player attempted to clarify by stating, “All of the rival’s Pokemon are not subject to Shiny locking and will remain Shiny throughout the game if they are kept.”However, not all players were in agreement.
Below the original response, a different comment challenges the notion that “none”of the opponent’s Pokemon are unable to be Shiny. The commenter expresses doubt about the validity of the statement and states that there is “no proof”to support it.
It appears that apart from a few rare occurrences, particularly with Arven’s Pokemon during a specific encounter, no one has ever witnessed any of the Pokemon belonging to the Scarlet & Violet NPCs to be Shiny. Furthermore, it is highly unlikely for them to keep a Shiny Pokemon throughout the entire game.
The individual who made the rebuttal also provided support for the notion that only Arven’s Pokemon can be Shiny in this battle, citing a past instance of the event that was shared on X by another fan of Pokemon.

Although based on personal experience, the individual who shared their own discovery of a Shiny Pokemon within Arven’s team believes it could be attributed to the game’s method of generating NPC’s Pokemon prior to battles.
During this encounter, Scarlet & Violet may be creating a Shiny version of the Pokemon specifically for this battle, but it will not retain its Shiny appearance after the encounter.
This statement is further supported by a comment in the thread which stated, “Individuals who have experienced this have reported not being Shiny in subsequent battles.”
Although it is a highly uncommon event, based on the available information, it appears that if you happen to encounter Arven with a Shiny Pokemon, it is unlikely that you will ever see it in its Shiny form again.
