Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 11: Uncovering the Identities of the Mysterious Figures and Their Connection to Will Serfort
The latest Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 11 reveals two of the most important characters through a flashback. While holding onto Elfaria’s ice crystal left behind by Rosty, Will Serfort recalls a memory from a past moment. A hooded young man inquires of a woman in a dark veil whether she is certain of her choice.
While the woman holds a baby on her lap, she cautions the man for repeating the question, asserting that she has made her decision for the greater good of the world. She entrusts the world’s future to the baby, aspiring for the union of the Wand and the Sword in due time.
According to Fujino Omori’s manga, the woman and the young man seen in Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 11 are indeed Mercedes and Finn, respectively. Although not much is revealed about Mercedes, she is well-known as the Mage Queen who founded Magia Vander approximately 500 years ago, aiming to eradicate the darkness ruling the world.
In contrast, Finn is depicted as a member of the Finn tribe and a dungeon guide who previously accompanied Masterias Noah Oldking on dungeon excursions. Despite referring to himself as a seven-year-old, he is likely over 500 years old. Interestingly, his true name is Invess, but he prefers being called Finn.
Both Mercedes and Finn have a fascinating connection with Will Serfort. Though the motives of Mercedes remain unclear, there is definitely a link to Will, as she appeared within his consciousness in chapter 45 part 1.
When Shade, a dark mage from the Gohtia, attempted to take control of Will’s mind in this chapter, she witnessed a lady seated on a throne commanding her to leave the boy’s consciousness. This is the same woman seen in Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 11.
Numerous theories have circulated among fans regarding Mercedes’ ties to Will, with one suggesting she is Will’s mother. The recent flashback in Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 11 strongly indicates Mercedes might be Will Serfort’s mother, as Will remembers the scene from his consciousness.
The Magic Queen likely foresaw the resurgence of evil in the future and understood that only a being with the capabilities of both the Wand and the Sword could extinguish that darkness. Perhaps this insight led her to entrust her son to Finn, who aids non-magic users.
However, inconsistencies in timelines cast some doubt on this theory. In chapter 29, Finn’s promise to Mercedes (depicted in the flashback of Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 11) was made 500 years ago, raising questions about how Will could only be 16 if the infant truly represents him.
Nevertheless, the flashback in Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 11 is tied intimately to Will Serfort’s memories, suggesting that the baby could indeed be him. Additionally, since Finn is aware of Will, it raises the possibility that Finn traveled through time to place Will in the orphanage, where he would meet Elfaria Albis Serfort.
That being said, no solid evidence currently supports this theory, but it remains the most plausible explanation for the inconsistencies. In any case, Finn plays a somewhat detached mentor role for Will in the manga, working to awaken his true potential while fulfilling his obligations to Mercedes.
