Upcoming Content for Mortal Kombat 1: Kombat Pack 2, Story DLC, and Animalities

During a panel at SDCC 2024, the developers of Mortal Kombat 1 revealed the new characters for Kombat Pack 2 and gave a sneak peek at the upcoming story DLC titled Khaos Reigns.

For months, there have been ongoing rumors and leaks about the upcoming content drops for Mortal Kombat 1, creating speculation among fans online.

The 2024 SDCC panel for the game confirmed that the majority of the leaks were in fact correct. Kombat Pack 2 will include all of the mentioned guest fighters: Ghostface, Noob Saibot, Sektor, Cyrax, Conan the Barbarian, and T-1000.

The rebooted universe has notably gender-swapped Sektor and Cyrax.

Braddy, a fan who attended the panel, revealed that Kaiji Tang will be reprising his role as the voice of Noob Saibot. It seems that Noob Saibot will now answer to Bi-Han, as reported by fans. The implications of this for MK1’s Sub-Zero, who also goes by Bi-Han, are uncertain. However, the conclusion of the game’s story mode hints at significant changes in store for the blood-covered ninja.

Additional information has revealed that Robert Patrick will be returning to play the role of T-1000 in his debut appearance in Mortal Kombat.

Along with revealing the contents of Kombat Pack 2, the developers of Mortal Kombat 1 also divulged details about Khaos Reigns, the highly speculated story DLC.

As stated in the previously mentioned announcement trailer, Khaos Reigns will be released on September 24 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch platforms.

The second Kombat Pack will include the launch of Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot, as well as Khaos Reigns. Although Ghostface, Conan, and T-1000 do not currently have confirmed release dates.

The trailer also confirms the return of Animalities, finishers where Mortal Kombat characters transform into beasts to perform brutal kills. Based on the few examples shown in the video, it is clear that Animality kills have not lost their impact.

After a prolonged period of silence from the MK1 team, these announcements have arrived at an opportune time. The fighter had lost its appeal to many fans, but the release of Kombat Pack 2 and Khaos Reigns could potentially revitalize the game.
