Theme of Star Wars Unlimited Set 3: Twilight of the Republic Revealed

Twilight of the Republic focuses on the Clone Wars era in the Star Wars timeline, as its name suggests. This animated series takes place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, with its first feature-length film releasing in 2008 and spanning seven seasons over the next 12 years.

Clone Wars, a beloved series, has inspired various spinoffs and expanded the franchise’s canon with the addition of fresh characters, settings, and significant storylines. The show’s later seasons are highly praised for introducing fan-favorite Ahsoka and providing insightful backgrounds for live-action heroes such as Obi-Wan.

While Set 2 covered various shows and movies, Set 3 is solely dedicated to the Clone Wars series. All 250+ cards will showcase characters, locations, and ships from the show.

New Mechanics in Star Wars Unlimited Set 3: Twilight of the Republic

Coordinate

Coordinate is only a factor when you have three or more units under your control (this can include a combination of ground and/or space units).

The specific function varies depending on the card. While some cards may receive a boost if Coordinate is active, others may gain completely new abilities. The only constant is the need to have three units under your control.

It is important to mention that the effect also takes into account units with the Coordinate keyword. This means that if you have two units already on the board, playing a unit with a Coordinate keyword will still activate the effect.

Exploit

The Exploit ability allows you to use high-cost cards for a significantly lower price. By defeating a range of units under your command, you can decrease the cost of an Exploit card by 2 Resources for each unit defeated.

For instance, a card with a cost of 8 and an Exploit value of 2 can be decreased to a cost of 4 by defeating two units under your control.

By utilizing economical units and even the introduction of Token Units, as explained below, you have the potential to catch your opponent off guard by playing a late-game card in the early stages.

New Token

For the first time since its launch, Star Wars Unlimited will introduce a new type of Token into the game. Joining the ranks of Experience and Shield Tokens, there will now also be Token Units.

Despite having distinct stat lines, the various types of Token Units operate similarly. Once they are defeated or returned to your hand, they are permanently eliminated from the game rather than being sent to your discard pile. This is comparable to the removal of Experience and Shield Tokens from the game.

New Cards in Star Wars Unlimited: Twilight of the Republic

Even though Twilight of the Republic was fully revealed on August 1, 2024 at Gen Con, we are still only beginning to uncover what Set 3 has to offer. Currently, only two Leaders have been unveiled – Ahsoka and General Grievous, both of which are included in the starter decks along with eight other cards.

We are certain that Anakin Skywalker will have a unit card that reflects his appearance in the Clone Wars, but there is currently no confirmation on whether he will also have a Leader card.
