World of Warcraft’s Season of Discovery is gearing up to enter Phase 6, featuring some of the most memorable events from the game’s illustrious history. For veterans who experienced WoW prior to the debut of The Burning Crusade, the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj patch remains one of the most celebrated chapters in the game’s timeline.

This upcoming phase promises to transport players back to that legendary era with a comprehensive lead-up to the momentous opening of the gates. Although Phase 6 officially kicks off on November 21, players can expect preliminary changes to begin shortly before that date.

Important Dates for Phase 6 & Ahn’Qiraj Events

November 13: Launch of the Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline.
November 21: Global initiation of the Ahn’Qiraj War Effort at 9 PM GMT.
November 29: Conclusion of the War Effort.
December 4: The battle against Anubisath and the Qiraji warriors commences.
December 6: Gates of Ahn’Qiraj open, granting access to the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj, Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj, and Nightmare Grove.

The Scepter of the Shifting Sands Quest

Completing the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest line grants players the unique privilege of being the one to open the gates in their realm. In return for this monumental achievement, players will receive the Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal, a key item for summoning the formidable Black Qiraji Battle Tank.

The Ahn’Qiraj War Effort

To support the war effort, players can contribute at either Orgrimmar or Ironforge by delivering Alliance or Horde Commendation Signets. These tokens can then be exchanged for reputation gains with your chosen faction.

Engaging the Anubisath Forces

Once the War Effort concludes, players have the opportunity to confront the Anubisath, along with their Qiraji forces directly. Low-level adventurers are encouraged to venture to Thousand Needles or the Barrens, while those at higher levels can tackle challenges in Silithus, Tanaris, and Feralas.

This engagement will yield rewards including gold, experience points, and reputation with the Brood of Nozdormu. Additionally, there is an increased chance of obtaining rare gear and items from defeated foes.

The Gates of Ahn’Qiraj Open

Following a climactic 48-hour period after the war begins, the gates to Ahn’Qiraj will open, enabling access to both the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj (for 10+ player raids) and the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj (for 20+ player raids). The Ruins will reset twice a week, while the Temple will follow a once per week schedule. Alongside this, the newly introduced Nightmare Grove instance will also become available, challenging players to face off against Emeriss, Lethon, Taerrar, and Ysondre.
