According to reports, Rockstar Games is preparing to release comprehensive mod tools to enhance the GTA Online gameplay once GTA 6 is released.
There were speculations about GTA 6 including RP features after Rockstar acquired the development team responsible for FiveM, a well-known mod.
According to a report released by GTAFocal on August 5, FiveM will soon be available on consoles. The report also disclosed Rockstar’s intention to utilize mods in order to achieve their larger vision for GTA Online.
The report states that Rockstar had been working on a project to compete with FiveM before acquiring it. Despite shelving the project, development has now been resumed.
GTAFocal asserts that this project is an integral component of Rockstar’s GTA Online plans and will heavily incorporate user-generated content through the use of Rockstar’s new proprietary modding tools.

The insider Tez2 discovered a file in the GTA Online Bottom Dollar Bounties DLC that is mentioned in the report, indicating that Rockstar is currently developing a mission creator.
According to sources at GTAFocal, Rockstar is currently working on a new project that will be integrated into GTA Online in the Fall of 2024.
According to the report, making the game available on consoles could also serve as a means of sustaining its popularity during periods of slower updates and the eventual release of GTA 6.

There have been previous instances of theories surrounding GTA 6 RP circulating. In 2023, files found in GTA Online suggested that GTA 6 was in the process of developing role-play creator features.
Currently, there is no information available about GTA 6’s Online mode. The only announcement from Rockstar has been the first trailer for the story campaign, which was released in December 2023. However, earlier gameplay leaks did reveal some new features such as mechanics, vehicles, weapons, and more.
Despite GTA VI’s release window being set for Fall 2025, we can expect to receive more information in the near future, possibly even news about the future of GTA Online.
