Upcoming Meeting Between Thai Prime Minister and BLACKPINK Lisa

According to reports, Lisa is currently coordinating her schedule in order to have a meeting with the Prime Minister. In July of last year, the celebrity had also traveled to Koh Samui in Surat Thani Province to film the third installment of The White Lotus. A short teaser, recently released by HBO, displayed captivating visuals of Thailand and its renowned martial art, Muay Thai. Other notable Thai actors, such as Dom Hetrakul, Patravadi Mejudhon, and Maethi Thapthimthong, are also included in the show’s cast.

The release of the film in 2025 is anticipated to bring an influx of tourists to Thailand. As reported by Agoda, hotel reservations in Koh Samui for June of this year saw a 26% rise compared to the previous year, coinciding with the announcement of Lisa’s involvement in the movie.

In the previous month, filming for the TV show Alien: Earth took place in Samut Prakan, while Thailand’s Krabi and Trang were chosen as filming locations for the upcoming Jurassic World 4.

According to a reliable source close to the Thai Prime Minister, the government has announced its intention to bolster efforts in promoting film production within the country. This will include an increase in the rebate offered from 15-20% to 20-30% for projects exceeding 100 million baht, as well as a raise in the maximum rebate from 75 million baht to 150 million baht per film.

The Tourism Authority reported that in 2018, Thailand generated 3.13 billion baht from leasing locations to foreign film crews. This amount rose to 4.86 billion baht in 2019 and then again to 5 billion baht in 2021.

Filmmakers from a diverse range of countries including Greece, Malaysia, South Africa, Georgia, Colombia, India, the Philippines, South Korea, and Australia have taken advantage of these incentives for a total of 43 films between 2017 and October 31, 2022.
