Upcoming Minecraft Features in 2024: New Mobs, Biomes & Latest Updates

Minecraft continually introduces thrilling updates, presenting fresh mobs, eagerly awaited features, and much more to keep your adventure vibrant and engaging.

While the aesthetic of Minecraft remains consistent, its features are anything but outdated. Mojang is consistently dedicated to offering innovative ways to experience the blocky universe, whether it’s by providing new protections for your pet wolves, introducing the adorable Armadillo, or creating challenging trials for enhanced rewards and battles.

Nevertheless, with frequent changes, keeping up with what to expect and their timing can be challenging.

Is there a Minecraft update release date?

Currently, there is not one; however, as announced during Minecraft Live 2024, the updates will be structured differently than past iterations that saw a major update each summer.

Instead, players have been assured that the forthcoming features will roll out in “the coming months.” Although no specific release date has been established, players can likely anticipate access to these features before the year’s end in 2024.

Everything announced in Minecraft’s next update

The majority of updates were unveiled during the 2024 Minecraft Live event, where Mojang showcased a brand new mob, biome, bundles, and of course, new building blocks for your next project.

Bedrock Hardcore Mode

The first new feature announced introduces Hardcore mode for the Bedrock edition, aimed primarily at console players, though PC users will also have access.

Hardcore mode essentially means that once you die, that’s it—your world is erased, and all your hard-earned builds are lost. Additionally, mobs will be tougher, your hunger bar will deplete, and once it runs out, it can immediately drop your hearts to zero.

This much-anticipated feature is expected to arrive in the next few months.

Bundles

Along with Bedrock Hardcore mode, players can look forward to the introduction of new Bundles as part of the Bundles of Bravery feature. Many players might have already observed these additions during the Snapshots or Betas.

Bundles serve as an excellent means to store various items, including flowers, stone, granite, and more. As emphasized by Mojang during the live stream, new blocks can rapidly overwhelm your inventory, making Bundles a practical solution.

They will function as separate storage units for your items, enhancing the ease of exploration and building.

The Pale Garden (New Biome)

One of the standout features in the upcoming update is The Pale Garden. This fresh biome presents a duality: a calm, tranquil environment during the day and a dark, unsettling atmosphere at night.

This forest is crafted to evoke unfamiliarity and discomfort, with hanging moss and dense trees obscuring visibility. Thus, it serves as an ideal setting for a spooky abode or an adventure.

The Creaking (New Mob)

Players exploring The Pale Garden at night may encounter a new mob known as The Creaking.

This eerie, tree-like entity is primarily crafted from wood, bearing a slight resemblance to an Enderman in its eyes. Despite this similarity, it is designed to stand apart from any other adversary in Minecraft.

Its unique movement and combat style also set it apart, as The Creaking will only attack when you’re not looking at it, and conventional damage won’t affect it—players will need to destroy The Creaking Heart to defeat it.

The Creaking Heart (New Block)

Serving as a new block and closely resembling a new mob, The Creaking Heart is essential for defeating The Creaking.

Hidden within the trees of The Pale Garden, players must locate and destroy its heart to eliminate the mob.

Mojang highlighted in the live event that players could also utilize Silk Touch to extract the Heart from The Pale Garden, allowing them to conceal it among trees and surprise their friends.

Pale Oak Wood Set

The Pale Garden biome brings a suite of new building materials called the Pale Oak wood set. True to its name, these trees sprout throughout the Garden.

While they closely resemble Birch blocks, they take on a much lighter tone, resulting in bright white planks, logs, fences, stairs, doors, and gates.

Beyond just new wood blocks, hanging moss will allow for enhanced home customization, imbuing a touch of forest charm. Moreover, Mojang is introducing a new kind of “carpet moss”that spreads designs over the sides of blocks, contributing to that eerie, overgrown ambiance.

These are the exciting features coming to Minecraft in the months ahead. As more updates are released or a specific launch date is provided, we will revise this guide, so be sure to bookmark and check back for updates.
