In April 2024, Niantic has announced the schedule for Pokemon Go’s Spotlight Hour, during which players will have a higher chance of encountering Croagunk, Trubbish, and other Pokemon.
The Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour, hosted by Niantic in Pokemon Go, is a well-attended weekly event. Every week, a different Pokemon is featured, with significantly increased encounter rates and a unique double bonus.
During a one-hour period, Trainers will have the opportunity to catch as many of the designated species as possible. This is the ideal chance to complete your Pokedex and gather sufficient Candy to evolve that particular Pokemon.
Similar to the monthly Community Days, these Pokemon Go events aim to provide Trainers with the opportunity to capture, evolve, and engage in battles alongside other members of the community.

How to Get Ready for the Trubbish Spotlight Hour in Pokemon Go
In order to avoid wasting any precious time during the 60-minute Spotlight Hours, there are several things you can do to prepare beforehand.
- Ensure that you have an ample supply of Poke Balls to capture multiple Pokemon during Spotlight Hour.
- Ensure that you possess a sufficient amount of Berries in order to receive double Candy or to make catching Pokémon easier.
- Ensure that you have enough space in your Pokemon Storage Box to accommodate all the Pokemon you will capture by clearing it out.
- Keep your PokeCoins saved and use them to buy an Incense during the event.
- As this event involves double XP for evolving Pokemon, tag a large selection of Pokemon you have that are ready to evolve to save you searching during Spotlight Hour
In addition to these suggestions, Spotlight Hours provide an ideal chance to utilize any remaining items such as Lucky Eggs or Star Pieces to boost the amount of XP and Stardust you will gain throughout the event.
Spotlight Hour: Spawn Rate & Shiny Rate
During these events, the spawn rate of each Spotlight Hour Pokemon is increased for a duration of 60 minutes, providing ample chances to catch each species. This is especially beneficial if you utilize Incense and Lures.
During Spotlight Hours, a Pokemon’s individual Shiny rate remains unchanged. However, the higher encounter rate during this time increases the chances of finding a Shiny Pokemon compared to regular hours. If your goal is to Shiny hunt during Spotlight Hours, it is recommended to use an Incense and explore different areas.
Remember to tap on every Pokemon you come across, and if they are not Shiny, there is no need to catch them. Simply move on and continue your search. Also, keep in mind that you can utilize the Pokedex classifications to easily find and collect your Shiny Pokemon, especially if you are aiming to catch all of them.
Each week will showcase a unique Pokemon and offer a special event bonus, so be sure to check back later in the month for additional information.
