According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Apple is expected to release the highly anticipated AirPods 4 in September. Additionally, it is rumored that the company may also offer a more affordable option for the AirPods 4.
According to Bloomberg’s Apple expert Mark Gurman, the tech giant is set to release two versions of the highly-anticipated AirPods 4 in September. Both models will come equipped with a USB-C charging case.
According to Gurman, there will be two versions of the product: a budget-friendly option with basic features, and another which is anticipated to have Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) capability and the ability to charge wirelessly.
Currently, ANC is exclusively offered on the Pro models, making it the first time that Apple will make it accessible at a reduced cost.
The upcoming AirPods 4 are predicted to replace the second generation in the product line. The ANC edition will be an improved version of the third model. According to Gurman, Apple intends to differentiate both models with design modifications, although the details of these changes are currently unknown.
Currently, the regular AirPods 2 are being sold at a cost of $129. The AirPods 3, which have a similar appearance to the noise-cancelling AirPods Pro but are not the same, are being sold for $179.
It is expected that the new AirPods will be unveiled in September, possibly alongside the iPhone 16. However, Apple has not officially confirmed this.
According to Gurman, Apple is in the process of creating updated firmware for the AirPods Pro. This firmware will bring head gesture controls and improved noise isolation, and there is a possibility that these features will also be included in the mid-tier model of the fourth-generation AirPods.
It is anticipated that Apple will release a third-generation AirPods Pro at a later date, most likely next year. According to Gurman’s report in December 2023, the new AirPods Pro will feature an enhanced H3 chipset, as well as a biometric sensor and a temperature sensor.
