It has been announced by Paradox Interactive that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be delayed until next year, requiring the Kindred to enter Torpor once again. This delay is due to the need for additional work on the game.
Despite being announced in 2019, Bloodlines 2 has faced a tumultuous development with multiple delays, a change in studios (from Hardsuit Labs to The Chinese Room), and a significant shift in its storyline. The protagonist has also been transformed from a weak Thin-blood vampire to an ancient Elder who has awakened in the modern era.
Despite the initial announcement that Bloodlines 2 would be released in 2024, the absence of a definite launch date caused concern among fans about a potential delay, especially as the year progressed.
It appears their intuition was accurate, as Paradox Interactive has officially announced on the Bloodlines 2 website that the release date for the game has been pushed back to the first half of 2025.
Bloodlines 2 has completely changed course throughout development
In a recent update, Paradox reiterated our dedication to providing our players with top-notch games. The decision to launch the update was made in line with this commitment.
Despite the game being in a satisfactory state for our planned release window, Paradox and The Chinese Room jointly made the decision to prioritize polishing the game.
The purpose of this buffer is to ensure quality assurance by allowing for a longer period between testing and launch. This allows us to release the game only when it is fully prepared. The additional time also provides us with an opportunity to make necessary adjustments, such as to Fabien, and incorporate feedback from the community.
“In addition, we plan to utilize this time to enhance the game’s narrative. As a result, Bloodlines 2 will now offer more than double the number of endings compared to its predecessor.”
The initial Bloodlines 2 gameplay reveal trailer sparked mixed reactions from the audience. Known for their passionate opinions, the World of Darkness community’s feedback was taken into consideration and it is encouraging to see the developers taking note and responding accordingly.
Fans of Vampire the Masquerade have been eagerly anticipating a sequel to Bloodlines for more than 20 years, and they will need to be patient for a bit longer to experience a game that will hopefully match the captivating nature of its predecessor.
