Riot Games has announced their plans for the upcoming 2025 Valorant Champions season, outlining all the additions and changes that will be implemented on the VCT circuit in the following year.
The 2024 Valorant Champions is coming to an end and Riot Games has revealed plans for significant changes to its esports circuit in 2025, with the aim of enhancing the overall experience for players, viewers, and teams.
In contrast to 2024, where a new VCT International league was introduced, 2025 will bring about some changes to the esport’s schedule and structure, as well as additional cosmetic options for fans to buy and show their support for their preferred teams.
Recently, Riot unveiled a video outlining the modifications and highlighting its accomplishments in 2024. Here are the key changes that will be implemented in the upcoming year.
VCT Calendar Expansion

The upcoming 2025 VCT season will have an earlier start date compared to previous years, commencing in early January with the Kickoff tournaments and concluding later in October with the Valorant Champions event.
The previous seasons received criticism for their short duration of only six months, beginning in early February and concluding in August, according to fans.
The start of the season will be moved up by a few weeks, and there will be a more evenly spaced schedule for international competitions to allow players sufficient rest between events.
More VCT Valorant skins
Riot has announced that the VCT team bundles will receive an update in 2025. The initial release of these cosmetic bundles was in 2024, providing fans with a direct method to financially support their preferred team through in-game Valorant transactions.
The developer has also announced the upcoming release of a new esports cosmetic bundle, known as the Season Capsule. This bundle is similar to the LOCK//IN bundle that was introduced during the 2023 tournament.
VCT Partner Teams Can Have Academy Squads in Challengers
Riot has recently announced that the 40 VCT partner teams will have the opportunity to participate in VCT Challengers leagues with their Academy teams. This initiative was introduced in 2024 through an affiliate system, allowing VCT partner teams to join forces with a squad in Challengers.
This enabled teams to form Two-Way Players on their Challengers rosters, who could be easily summoned to join the VCT team whenever needed.
In 2025, VCT teams will have the option to field a second squad in Challengers without having to form an affiliate agreement with another esports organization. However, these Academy teams will not be eligible to participate in Ascension and advance to the VCT leagues.
VCT Masters and Valorant Champions 2025 Locations
Paris will hold the Valorant World Championships in 2025.
The Riot announcement also verified the host cities for the three major international VCT events, shortly after they were leaked on social media.
The initial VCT Masters event is scheduled to be held in Bangkok, Thailand immediately after the Kickoff tournaments. In July, the second Masters competition will take place in Toronto, Canada. The next Valorant Champions tournament will return to Europe, specifically to Paris, France.
