A Twitch streamer shared a clip of a Valorant match where a teammate’s disturbing comment led to her leaving the game. She is now urging Riot Games to take further action in safeguarding its players during voice chat.
Recently, Taylor Morgan, a Twitch streamer from Australia known for playing FPS games, shared a video clip from a recent game of Valorant where a teammate made inappropriate comments, asking if she was familiar with the experience of rape and if she was interested in learning about it.
In addition, her post urged Riot to take further action beyond just suspending players who make similar remarks during gameplay.
Morgan expressed that the behavior of these men will continue unless hardware bans are implemented. It is imperative that they are permanently banned from playing the game. Morgan believes that the game developers are aware of the issue and if it is not addressed, it will be seen as a deliberate disregard for the well-being of women and minorities who play the game. As a result, Morgan plans to lead a boycott in response.
I have never made a more desperate plea that what I am about to say right now. @riotgames @RiotSupport I need you guys to fucking do something. I am an incredibly strong person and I have been streaming for a very, very long time. But absolutely nothing prepares you for someone… pic.twitter.com/Gr77uBsBrT

Afterwards, Morgan shared an update stating that she received an in-game penalty for abandoning the match.
Several other creators have also voiced their opinions on the clip, urging Riot to take responsibility for the players’ remarks towards Morgan.
“According to ‘Gara’, creator of EAFC, it is crucial to hold players accountable for their actions in voice comms. If not, similar incidents will continue to occur. As someone who has played before, ‘Gara’ describes the gaming environment as a free-for-all, where anyone can say whatever they please.”
This is not the initial occurrence of a streamer being singled out in Valorant voice chat with sexist or sexual remarks.
Despite Riot’s efforts to address “disruptive behavior”in Valorant by recording voice communication during matches, a recent clip from Morgan proves that threats and sexism are unfortunately still common in the game’s voice chat.
At the current moment, Riot Games has not yet responded to the post.
