Valorant’s Latest Agent Clove Dominating Meta with High Pick & Win Rates

Since the 8.11 update, Clove, the latest Agent in Valorant, has been making a significant impact on the ranked meta with a soaring pick and win rate, and has even been dominating in professional play.

On March 26, 2024, when Clove was released, it was clear that their kit would have a huge impact on the meta. Being able to revive, grant a movement and health boost to themselves, and also provide utility as a Controller would surely revolutionize the game.

Despite their release several months ago, they did not make as big a splash as some of Valorant’s notorious Agents (I’m looking at you, Chamber). However, with the recent 8.11 update, Clove’s position in the meta has significantly shifted.

Despite the balance changes in the 8.11 update that could be interpreted as nerfs, Clove continues to dominate the meta with cost increases for Pick-Me-Up and timing adjustments for their ult Not Dead Yet.

With 21,825 matches played, Clove still dominates the Radiant-ranked ladder

According to Blitz.gg, during Episode 8 Act 3, Clove consistently ranks among the top three most selected Agents in all ranks. The lowest rank they reach is fourth in Iron 1 and 2.

Sitting at a 10.5% pick rate, with an impressive 52.7% win rate, Clove holds a strong position at Platinum 3, making it a desirable middle point for the ranks.

To provide context, the data is based on 1.5 million matches. In comparison, Reyna, who has played a similar number of matches, has a 50% win rate. Following closely behind is Deadlock, with a win rate of 50.3% but significantly fewer matches played at 166,000.

When examining the statistics for Radiant, which features the top players, it can be observed that Clove has a pick rate of 10.9%, once again leading the win rate chart with a 53.6% success rate in 21,800 matches played. In comparison, Reyna, who has played a similar number of matches, has a win rate of only 51%. Following closely behind is Iso with 5,900 matches played and a win rate of 52.5%.

Clove’s superiority is further evidenced by their presence in the professional scene, specifically at VCT, where they recently made their tier 1 debut at VCT Pacific. During this event, DRX’s Flashback faced off against ZETA DIVISION, with DRX ultimately emerging victorious with a perfect score of 13-0. This flawless game only solidifies Clove’s dominance.

Despite there being no major changes, it remains a mystery as to why Clove has suddenly gained momentum.
