The first episode of Vampire Dormitory, titled The pretty boy gets picked up, begins with a teaser for the upcoming episode. In the teaser, Mito, the main character, jumps from a bridge and is rescued by Ruka, a vampire. After this scene, the episode shifts to a palace where the next leader of the vampires is being chosen.

The populace proclaims that only an individual with a romantic partner can be chosen as the future ruler of the vampire community. The scene then transitions to the mortal realm, where Mito is getting terminated from his employment after his boss catches him napping on the boat. Mito clarifies that he resorted to this due to being homeless.

Despite Mito’s attempts to explain and justify his actions, the owner remains unforgiving and decides to terminate his employment. As Mito wanders the streets, searching for a temporary shelter, memories of his difficult upbringing flood his mind. Orphaned at a young age, he was passed from one relative to another before being abandoned to fend for himself.

After deciding to search for a job on the other side of the city, he comes across a café. However, due to not having eaten since morning, he accidentally falls into the café through the door, breaking a plant pot. Immediately, he apologizes and attempts to clean up the mess. Unfortunately, he ends up injuring his fingers and blood starts to drip. One of the employees notices and takes him to a safe area.

The employee tastes his blood and expresses his disgust. Mito and the new employee briefly discuss the situation before Mito departs. The owner then reveals to Ruka that Mito’s aversion to his own blood stems from feeling unloved. As Mito exits, the teaser from the beginning of the episode is repeated and he subsequently faints.

Upon waking up, Mito finds himself in the boy’s dormitory of Ruka’s school. Ruka declares that he will take Mito in as his slave and manipulate him into falling in love, ultimately making his blood more delicious. As Mito is led to the bathroom, he is shocked to discover that Ruka is actually a woman.
