<p>The character Knull is set to make his first appearance in Venom 3, but this won’t be his only venture within the Marvel cinematic universe. The film’s director hints that “God is coming,” suggesting that Knull may also have a role in Spider-Man 4.
Venom 3 marks Tom Hardy’s final portrayal of Eddie Brock. While he battles formidable adversaries like Toxin and various other symbiotes that invade Earth, fans will also be introduced to one of Marvel’s most notorious villains: Knull, the deity of darkness and the progenitor of all symbiotes.
Although details about Knull’s portrayal remain scant (with rumors suggesting Andy Serkis might take on the role), there is a prevailing theory stemming from his quick reveal: Knull will indeed be part of this installment, but will not serve as the primary antagonist, paving the way for a future appearance. Could that potentially be in Spider-Man 4?
Kelly Marcel, who directs and co-wrote Venom 3, didn’t officially confirm Knull’s involvement in the upcoming Spider-Man film. Nevertheless, she conveyed to IGN that this is merely the “beginning” of his journey.
“We’re diving into spoiler territory now, and we intend for audiences to enjoy the uncertainty of the plot. However, we fully recognize Knull’s significance among fans—just as we did with Venom, we aim to lay a strong foundation for Knull,” she stated.
“The King in Black possesses far too much power to be a one-time character. This film introduces Knull, yet only scratches the surface of his saga. Marvel’s compelling villains typically evolve across multiple installments.”
“In this instance, Knull is the looming threat that challenges the very fabric of Eddie and Venom’s partnership—yet it’s their connection that remains central to this narrative.”
It’s clear that while Eddie and Venom’s story comes to an end here, Knull’s narrative is just beginning.
“As fans know, there are countless symbiote tales waiting to be told – this universe is vast and diverse, and one film cannot fully represent Knull. Beyond this trilogy, there are additional stories ready to unfold – God is coming.”
How does this tie into Spider-Man 4? Speculation is rampant that Tom Holland’s next solo venture in the MCU may feature symbiote elements—most notably, there’s a potential for him to don the black suit.
According to Cryptic HD QUALITY, the film might be titled King in Black, a reference to both Knull and the iconic symbiote suit, given that King in Black is one of Knull’s monikers.
In a recent Discord Q&A, The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez responded to inquiries about Tom Hardy’s involvement in Spider-Man 4 with “TBD.” They also suggested that there will be “more symbiotes” and mentioned, “As I understand it, Tom will acquire the symbiote suit in the coming years, potentially retaining it for several upcoming Spider-Man films.”
